Sounds Like
an Atari, a Commodore 64, a bunch of sampled drums, some squeltchy sounds, and some smooth sounds, occasionally coming together harmoniously and kicking your ass.
I liked playing the piano a lot. So much so that I'd try to skip dinner. I wasn't very good at it, but I liked playing with it. It sounded nice, or nasty, or could shake the room if you hit enough keys at once, and that was very satisfying. That's what I'm trying to do now, play around with things until people start shaking, ideally because they want to dance, but I imagine epillepsy could be a cause too.
Timeline of Albums:
1998 - Mute - entirely sample-based recounting of my experiences right out of high school in the form of a continuously mixed 74 minute barrage of something akin to techno. Could also be considered the first album, since I disavow any knowledge of writing "new age ambient music"
1999 - Midway EP - random tracks written both while at Oberlin and while at home in the midst of attempting to complete Mellow
2000 - Mellow V1 - first, minimal version of the album mellow, blended tracks, none of the songs were entirely complete, but basic structure was there.
2001 - Mellow V2 - More structure and elaboration on themes, tracks were mostly complete, still had some rough edges
2001 - Mellow V3 - Interlude segments completed, finished thing, still sounds way too bassy and recording quality lost most of the high end.
2002 - Dark As Night - attempt at compilation with Jed, had one track by him and several random tracks I had done over the previous year, and during writing Mellow.
2003 - Games Bootleg - titled as such since three of the primary tracks borrowed uncleared samples and therefore can't actually be legitimately released. Silly copyright laws.
2003 - Boy Blue - Lost to time, parts of it were completed, but the concept was never solid, kept the tracks for later projects.
