Indie Artist, producer, singer, and songwriter Davey T Hamilton has updated Country while keeping the music's original soul intact. His progressive musical style is often considered a blend of Southern Rock, Country, Bluegrass, and Pop. Hamilton has a tenor voice and combines percussive mandolin strumming with loud drums and Rock guitars. His unique sound places him in a new generation of Modern Country Music. A multi-instrumentalist, Hamilton can play electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, banjo, piano, keyboards, harmonica, mandolin, and drums. He is also a highly skilled recording engineer/record producer and produces his own recordings.
Apart from music, Davey T Hamilton is very active in the promotion of Health and Wellness as an avid athlete and fitness expert. He earned a B.A. in Exercise Science from the University of Kentucky and currently owns the personal training company Nashville Mobile Personal Training. With 10 years of experience in the fitness industry, Hamilton has helped 100s of satisfied clients in the Middle Tennessee and Kentucky area reach their goals. During his childhood, Hamilton's Mom and Dad filled the house with Elvis Presley, Waylon Jennings, Vince Gill, Alan Jackson, Lionel Ritchie, Kenny Rogers, Alabama, and the Oak Ridge Boys. During his teens, he added Hank Williams Jr., Lenny Kravitz, Dwight Yoakam, Guns N Roses, Travis Tritt and Led Zeppelin to these childhood favorites. While attending the University of Kentucky, Hamilton started playing guitar. Within 6 weeks of learning his first song, he was performing as a front man, bass, and keyboard player for various bands. After graduation, he moved back home with his parents for six months and spent the entire time writing songs. He then decided to follow his dream and move to Nashville, TN. "I came to Nashville wide-eyed and with big dreams" says Hamilton. "After livin' there for about a month I decided I wanted to learn how to make professional recordin's. At the time, I was workin' 3 jobs and tryin' to make ends meet, so I applied for several credit cards. I maxed all 5 of them out on recordin' studio gear and self-taught myself how to make records." Hamilton's songs cover a wide spectrum of subjects including: living in the South, life in the Country, Daddy, Mama, Women, Faith, and Love. His attitude is much like that of the original outlaws such as Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings. During his time in Nashville he has secured both writing and recording deals. However, his un-orthodox approach to writing and recording music has been met with much criticism. His strong sense of self and direction has caused a lot of resistance from Nashville Music Row. "I've always wanted to make my own records and stay away from the establishment" says Hamilton. "I engineer, produce, and play most of the instruments on my recordings. Nobody does that in Nashville. Many alternative artists won't admit this,.. but we want to have commercial success. We just want to maintain our own sound, vision, and integrity. Playing by the rules in Nashville will not allow me to follow the God given music in my head." Taking time off from the music business has allowed Hamilton to go back and listen to a lot of old ideas. "I wrote and recorded over 100 demos when I had my deal" says Hamilton. "After listening to many of those demos, I believe they are some of my strongest and most original ideas. Therefore, I took some of the good Country ideas and started to record the album Country Boy." The songs on Country Boy are catchy and driven by loud drums, percussive mandolin, and Country bass lines. The rhythm section is complimented by very tasty- melodic intros on fiddle, steel guitar, and rock guitar. Hamilton's tenor voice works well with the arrangements and instrumentation. Country Boy starts things off with a very catchy song called Highway Alabama. "It's a song about looking for my lover while driving on a highway in Alabama" says Hamilton. "It's an upbeat-toe tapping song and I think it has a Southern Anthem flavor like the re-recorded Dixie Road." The title track (Country Boys), re-recorded versions of 25 4 Life, and Job Well Done examine life in the country, being young, and Family relationships. Ballads - I Believe in You and Not Giving Up are about love going right and love going wrong. Perhaps the most fun songs on Country Boy are the up tempos - She's My Style and I Can't Keep My Hands off You. Both tunes are about a woman, her style, and the power she can have over a man. Country Boy will be released in the summer of 2009. |
