‘**** 1/2: For sheer scope and lyrical intensity, David Cronenberg’s Wife have made one of the best albums of the year.’ (The Fly)
'Exactly what the music world needs… An actual modern masterpiece’ (Room Thirteen)
'**** If Nick Cave just isn’t unpleasant enough for you these days, this will be a record to treasure.' (Time Out London, Aug 20, 2008)
'Bleak outsider anthems.... Chances are [Mrs Cronenberg] calls herself a fan'
(the london paper, Aug 11, 2008)
'Where genius meets idiocy' (Mark Lamarr, BBC Radio 2)
‘Not many albums this strong being made in this decade so if you trust me, you may well be rewarded!’ (Norman Records)
'Oh me, oh my, Tom Mayne has really excelled himself with the new album... noir ambience all the way through, very consistent’ (Tom Robinson, BBC 6Music)
'they may well be an independent band from the mid 80s teleported forward to the 21st century' (Loud & Quiet Magazine)
'87%.. There’s an amazing nostalgic feel to this album, a throwback to 50s rock and roll, 60s psychedelic and the swagger and cockiness of the 70s... creepy, weird, and brilliant' (Line of Best Fit)
'The album is wonderful...' (Marc Riley)
'Sarcastic, sardonic and articulate… I can guarantee once you’ve heard this, it will stay in your head all day.' (Music Week)
'Even on first listen i'm totally digging this 7" by David Cronenberg's Wife. It's a cyclic, twangy piece of wax called 'My Best Friend's Going Out With A Girl I Like' which recalls The Flaming Stars, Bailter Space & maybe old London bands like Breed. There's a bit of a Velvets/Spacemen 3 feel to the atmospherics, the lyrics are a monotonous, geeky, drawled & wistful moan and utterly delightful in their excecution. The music just drills into your head like the best Quickspace tunes used to do, with that relentless repetitive drive, cool & loose, hypnotic & sinister....but going back to those lyrics....they're bleakly hilarious. I can't figure whether the protaganist is a total psychopath or just a lovelorn sweetie but Daniel Clowes could write a short comic strip for this addictive offering on Blang. A hearty treat of motorik surf-psych genius!' (Norman Records)
'What’s immediately impressive about David Cronenberg’s Wife is their honesty. Lyrics like those above float all the way through this magnificently-titled single, which musically sounds like Lou Reed hupping darkly over The Buzzcocks’ most famous song while Dan Treacy sits alarmed in the corner, wondering why on earth he didn’t write songs as good as this for the last two TV Personalities records.' (Drowned in Sound)
'['My Best Friend' is] mesmerising with its repetition and simplicity…' (subba-culture)
'a particularly skilled troupe of high wire artistes walking the proverbially thin line between irony & self-loathing. Investigate at will. You won’t be anything less than intrigued!' (trakmarx review of 'I Couldn't Get Off')
David Cronenberg's Wife sound like a mid-Eighties independent band -- sarcastic, sardonic and articulate, with dark gothic undertones, a little bit of shambling, some David Lynch surf guitar... the focus is on the songwriting' (Everett True, Plan B, September 07)
'I Do Know You Love Me' [is] thrilling for its freshness, its full-on musical self-confidence and some brilliantly witty lyrics - in which the wit came from expressing dangerously honest thoughts rather than from any desire to be amusing...' (Michael Gray, author of The Bob Dylan Encyclopedia)
'Dark and twisted as the name suggests' (London Metro. May 5, 2006)
'Tom Mayne is a stunning lyricist who peels back the skin of humanity to reveal its pustulating bleeding sores while leaving piss stains on your trousers with his sardonic wit. The observational skills of a novelist. The lo-fi 2 chord soul of rock nroll.' (Sgt Buzfuz)
'These guys are great. They're not ripping anyone off.' (Sky Saxon of The Seeds)
'Bands with rubbish names and our utterly unfounded guess at what they sound like: David Cronenberg's Wife- this Norwich band are newcomers on the East Anglian goth scene? Perhaps.' (NME)
'The world's best seven-fingered songwriter'. (Bobbo, DCW fan)

I'm happy to announce that my new album "Songs From The Films Of David Lynch" is out now.
"Truly unsettling and perplexingly brilliant... testament to both the quality of Lynch’s soundtracks and Truax’s talents" - The Skinny
"Truax is paying homage to a kindred spirit with this album. It's the best kind of tribute – affectionate and respectful, but with its own quirks and imaginative leaps and its own distinct identity." -The Scotsman
