About me: David H. Steinberg grew up in West Hartford, Connecticut, entered Yale at age 16, and earned his law degree from Duke University, where he served as editor-in-chief of the law review. After four years of entertainment law in Atlanta and New York, he abandoned his legal career to attend USC’s Peter Stark Producing Program.
Steinberg broke out as a writer in 1999 with his feature script SLACKERS that ignited a bidding war for the script. The movie starred Devon Sawa, Jason Schwartzman, and model Jaime King and became an instant cult classic.
Steinberg was immediately hired by Universal Studios to pen the sequel to the smash hit AMERICAN PIE, and as a result, his sequel had the highest gross of all three American Pie movies.
In another high profile script sale, AFTER SCHOOL SPECIAL was made into Steinberg’s third film, starring Amy Smart, Tom Arnold, and Horatio Sanz. Steinberg served as co-producer on that film which was released in 2005 by Sony as NATIONAL LAMPOON’S BARELY LEGAL.
In addition, Steinberg has worked extensively within the studio system, writing for DreamWorks, Universal, Sony, Disney, Fox, New Line, and Paramount. Steinberg has recently written the high concept comedy OTHER PEOPLE’S WISHES for Warner Brothers; the sequel to the 1979 classic comedy LOVE AT FIRST BITE for MGM/Sony; and PUSS IN BOOTS, the feature spin-off of SHREK 2, for DreamWorks Animation, set for release in 2011.
In television, Steinberg has written sitcom pilots for Fox, UPN, and Paramount TV.
He writes an online column for aspiring screenwriters and has given many interviews, including this one.
Steinberg directed the award-winning short film, "The Babysitter," and a music video for the L.A. band LEXICON. His most recent project, "AMERICAN PIE: BOOK OF LOVE," just wrapped production and is set for release in October.

David just wanted to send you a quick myspace comment. Wanting to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, want to also thank you for taking the time to reply to my original message. I sent a reply not sure it went through or not.
Anyways take care and good luck with all your future projects. Maybe one day I'll get to act in one of your films lol
I read on moviehole that you done an interview saying American Pie book of love wont be AP4 and that idea of origian cast ever coming back is now gone, :( but will be a spin off, is that true ? I like the american pie presents but truely love the originals we need them back 1 more time
Thanks Mr Steinberg or should I just call you by your first name. I really appreciate you accepting my friend invite on here on myspace. Did you get my message I sent and did you enjoy the video and American Pie 4 Parenthood logo I created?
I'll add it with this comment if you're ok with letting me show it to everyone?
Thanks for the add, David, and for visiting my page!
Congratulations on all your successes! I'm a firm believer that the sequel is never as good as the original, and that American Pie 2 is the exception to that rule. Keep up the fantastic work and thanks for entertaining all of us!
