New solo release Strange Biology gives a delightful peek into the musical world of Montreal singer/songwriter David Macleod.
Following unanimous critical acclaim for the release of his collaborative folk-rock brainchild Timber (The New Gentlemens Shuffle) released by Ships at Night Records in 2005, Strange Biology doesnt fall far from the tree. Its live, scaled-down sound and heartfelt tones reveal new exciting layers to one of Montreals most talented lyricists and musicians.
Intricate finger-style guitar and unique vocal melodies blend with signature lyrical wordplay as Macleod takes on love, loss, and the day-to-day struggles faced by the hard-working vagrants, artists and friends that help make independent culture happen.
Co-produced by Warren C. Spicer, the album features musicians Katie Moore (Katie Moore, Yonder Hill), Warren C. Spicer and Matthew Woodley (Plants and Animals), as well as special appearances by Emma Baxter (Orillia Opry), Jeannot Boudreau, Gilles Castilloux and Kees Dekker (The Field Register), Angela Desveaux, and Mishka Stein (Patrick Watson).
