   About David Rovics
.... .. .. .. .. .. ....

Hey folks,

Welcome to my space here in MySpace. My main website is www.davidrovics.com. There you can find lots of available for free download, get on my email list, read my bio, reviews, buy CD's, t-shirts, posters, songbooks, etc. I also have a blog for more "finished" journalistic type writing at www.songwritersnotebok.blogspot.com.

D from Ever Reviled Records keeps my upcoming gigs here pretty well updated, but for the most up-to-date list of gigs go to my "gigs" page at www.davidrovics.com.

And if you were looking for a real description of who is this guy, well, let's see... In a paragraph... I'm a musician, I like to write songs about how the world is going to hell and what people are trying to do about it. I spend much of my time playing concerts throughout North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and occasionally elsewhere. I have a lovely daughter. I like hot tubs, good weed, good espresso, old-growth forests, mass social upheaval, and probably a few other things, and when I'm not on tour I'm often to be found at home in Portland, Oregon.

Hope to see you on the road and in the streets!

--David

(Hi David, Keep writing songs about the world.)

It's almost Christmas, by the Art Punk Band

Well the season is near, so much to do,
Scrambling around in these old scruffy shoes,
Time to find something for you, you and who
knows -- maybe this thing will do.
I need money for Christmas,
I bet you do too.
What should I buy, what should I do,
I found Dr. T, to ask what he wanted...
all he said was... it's Good to Be Back, and
I found Tha Baron, Tha Baron said
Corn Whiskey, "Corn Whiskey is Better than Bread"
I found Rev. Paul, and Rev Paul said...
"Stop Shopping, Go to The Park,
chase those money lenders out of the Park."

Apply Motivation: may I suggest that all Copenhagen Delegates spend a day in the mud in Bangladesh, repairing the bank between tides. Then get back into the room, and sort it out!!

Hello everyone, thanks for the ad.

JOIN US ON THE GAZA FREEDOM MARCH

The International Coalition to End the Illegal Siege of Gaza formed after Israel's 22-day assault on Gaza in winter 2008-09.We

are a diverse coalition that represents all faiths (and no faith) and

is focused on human rights in conformance with international law. *****

To mark the fact that is has been one year since the Israeli attack, the

coalition is mobilizing an international contingent for a nonviolent

march alongside the people of Gaza on Dec. 31, to end the illegal

blockade.

***** The coalition conceives this march as part of a

broader strategy to end the Israeli occupation by targeting

nonviolently its flagrant violations of international law from the

house demolitions and settlements to the curfews and torture.

*****JOIN US ON THE GAZA FREEDOM MARCH December 27—January 2!

*****This site is the only authoritative source of information on the Gaza Freedom March.

***** All those planning to join the march must sign up on this site.

I was at one time quite a successful photographer, with work being shown on a national and international scale. Then I fell ill with a mobility related condition which utterly naffed my life up. Thanks to years of fighting back I have managed to regain the mobility which I lost, and through a process of ongoing pain management and medication have been able to start work again. As a result I have decided to re-enter the photographic world as career. I know this links to a competition, but the competition is being judged on the number of votes, and I have no chance of winning it at all. However, I am hoping that this image, from a series of images showing British pre-christian landscapes, will be of a quality to get my name into the NT sphere of consciouness. Becoming an NT photographer is almost impossible, but I believe I have something as a pagan to add, and I have always been a sucker for trying to achieve the impossible.

I hope you decide to vote, and if you do, thank you deeply in advance.

Thank you.

Dissident.

After you've finished here, you may like to hear this poem sung on myspace...

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse
(please see my blog):
TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001

Where traditions are not so rare;
    Sea, country and works scent the air;
A multitude of monuments,
    Planted tubs and patterned pavements.

The longish pedestrian malls;
    The remnants of defensive walls;
Historic buildings are a gauge
    Of the respect for heritage.

Wheat, rape and pines in the fields;
    Estuaries guarded by shields;
Long sandy beaches and wide scenes;
    Romantic-ruin go-betweens.

Rivers in parts licked by trees,
    Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries,
And crossed by practical delights -
    Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.

Fine churches headed at Durham;
    Football kits ad infinitum;
Kept castles - one for study;
    Masonry behind masonry.

And, with moulding-works out that way,
It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?

Hey man, great music, you are probably the best musician (from a strict political view.) from the U.S. and you've made me believe that there are a small amount of hope for the world police state.

Please put up Cannabis Café on myspace, I'd be grateful like forever!
