  • Bio

Grammy award winning drummer, David Teegarden is counted among Rock and Roll’s most influential musicians and producers. His talent spans nearly five decades and continues today. .. Teegarden’s career began in the 60’s playing the Tulsa club scene, before he left for Los Angeles to work with Leon Russell and J.J. Cale in Leon’s home studio, working with many famous L.A. studio musicians of that era. .. Eventually, Teegarden made his way to Detroit with Hammond B3 player, Skip VanWinkle. Teegarden and VanWinkle recorded six albums and had a top ten hit single with “God, Love and Rock-n-Roll”. The two played and recorded with such musical legends as Chuck Berry, Chicago, Taj Mahal, Mitch Ryder, Dr. John, Leon Russell, J.J. Cale, Freddie King, Albert King, B.B. King, Frank Zappa, John Lennon, Ted Nugent, MC5, Willie Dixon, SRC, Stevie Wonder, Bob Seger and many others. .. That friendship with Seger remained close through the late 70’s when Teegarden joined Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band for a long run as one of the world’s best Rock and Roll bands. Teegarden toured the world with the group and played on such hits as, “Hollywood Nights”, “Still the Same”, “Against the Wind” “Feel Like a Number”, Horizontal Bop”, “You’ll Accompany Me”, “Her Strut”, “Betty Lou’s Gettin Out Tonight” and many more. In 1980 the band was nominated for 3 Grammy’s and won Best Rock Performance, for “Against the Wind”. Teegarden was nominated 7 consecutive years as “Best Drummer” in Playboy Magazine’s, national music poll. .. Teegarden produced former Tulsan, and old friend, J.J. Cale’s latest album, “To Tulsa and Back”, released in 2004 on Sanctuary Records which received high praise in Rolling Stone Magazine. Teegarden has done three tours with Cale, both as a performer and production coordinator. Later, Teegarden provided production assistance, and as well, played on tracking sessions for the J.J. Cale / Eric Clapton “Road To Escondido” CD, which garnered both Cale and Clapton each, a Grammy in 2008. .. David Teegarden is still hugely influential today… he stays busy at his state of the art recording studio near his hometown of Tulsa (Natura Digital Studios) and has produced and engineered hundreds of local artists as well as national acts from both coasts and Nashville. David keeps his musical chops up by playing with local rock, blues and jazz groups. ..
