Bio
In the Netherlands Daybroke’s founder Tom Sikkers is quite a household name. Since 1993 he has played every main stage in the country with national heroes Brotherhood Foundation and Wealthy Beggar. Besides performing with these bands he also worked as producer in his self-owned studio Larger than Live. In that studio he has been recording his new music written for his latest enterprise Daybroke. In seeking feedback from his peers on these recordings he got the following response from Clif Norrell (Nirvana, No Doubt and Jeff Buckley): “Sounds great! Really good work!”. These were not idle words; Clif has already produced a mix of the track Sabotage. After an extensive quest, Tom has found the ultimate band to present his music to the world in Jaap van der Heijden (Rock Nation), Jesse Klaasse (Woost) and Kasper van der Voort (the 925’s). In its brief existence Daybroke has already proudly supported acts like Eagles of Death Metal, Lifehouse, Taylor Hawkins and Triggerfinger. Although Daybroke’s music is strongly rooted in American rock tradition, European influences also are evident. Much heard comparisons are Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Weezer, Muse et cetera. In short: solid, pounding, catchy and contagious Rock Music. Contagious not only applies to Daybroke’s music but also to their enthusiasm and work methods. Daybroke believes that the only way to accomplish anything is by working for it yourself, really really hard. This profound do-it-yourself attitude rubs off on everybody participating with the band. It is exactly how they managed to persuade quite famous folk like filmmaker Tim Smit and actress Maud Dolsma to collaborate with them unselfishly in the production of a spectacular video to their first single Hey Girl. This video has been added to the program of the International Film Festival Breda and has been viewed on various online channels over 70,000 times. The album What Nature Started is released through Rough Trade Distribution in March 2010. -
