We went to Cumbernauld. This is how good it was.

We put tonnes of new, terrible quality videos up on Youtube! You can thank my crap phone for the quality. Check them out! Just head over to the user pages of either inmerit or tink06tinker to see more. You might also find some amazingly curious, non-DFA related videos on there.

Instrumental prog-infused post-rock; I love it, but sometimes it can all get a bit, you know, serious. Day For Airstrikes, tonight at least, are the antidote to all that. Yes, they are an ingeniously skilled group of musicians who are clearly no strangers to the fifteen minute workouts of both early 70s Pink Floyd and Explosions In The Sky, but you get the feeling they might have been road-testing the venue's ever changing selection of Belgian mentalist beers. Or something, anyway. They play a stunning, fluid piece of twisting wonder which rises and falls and incorporates swooping guitar solos and the post-whatever tradition of more than one person bashing seven shades out of various extra bits of drum kit; carrying you along in its sonic travels. And then they get a massive attack of the giggles and descend into what could equally be band in-jokes or complete nonsense, someone shouts "Riffhouse!" and they thrash out a ten second hardcore metal attack. Well some of them do. Some of them forget to come in, so they have to do it again. By the end of the set this has mutated into "Riff Bathroom!" and one of them's standing on the front monitors thrashing at a cymbal with eyes like satellite dishes. Right... ....... www.music-dash.co.uk

Our records!

SECRET WHALE - 2005

Four tracks of nice, melodic "post-rocky" indie recorded up in the hills of Littleborough.
Sadly we have no copies left. Maybe we'll have some in the future? But maybe not.

WIDOWS - 2006

Five tracks of darker, heavier rock music without vocals. Written over the course of a year that included fires, deaths, evictions, thefts and upsetting gangsters, as well as making new friends, traveling the country in the back of a smelly van with no windows and various other events that have slipped from the memory banks. Now available from many online resources, such as: Roadkill Records and Piccadilly Records along with these online retailers:

hmv.co.uk
play.com
amazon.com
boomkat.com

Or you can buy it from us at gigs for £6.

DFA PHOTOBUCKET

Our photobucket is filled with some decent pictures and loads of stupid shit from the past couple of years:

Room Tones proudly Presents...

TRESPASSERS WILLIAM + Glissando + Operations

Date: Wednesday 7th October 2009
Venue: Salford Sacred Trinity Church
Tickets: £6 @ http://www.wegottickets.com/event/49574

Trespassers William (Seattle, US) are the duo of Matt Brown and Anna-Lynne Williams. "Subliminally sublime and pragmatically perfect, you would have to possess an ashtray for a heart not to feel this coursing through your soul" (DSD Music Magazine). A new EP, The Natural Order of Things, is due to be released on Gizeh Records in the upcoming months. They will make a special church performance with members of Glissando.

Glissando (Sheffield, UK) “have the kind of atmosphere that can captivate and relax in equal measure- never before has tranquillity sounded so urgent. While track lengths of over 10 minutes may fail to hold the attention of the ADHD sufferers among us, with patience it plays like a majestic dream. And it's one you'll never want to wake up from." NME

Operations (Chris Anderson) is a Manchester based conceptual music producer and sound artist. He performs and records with an array of analog synths and effects, reel-to-reel tape and casette players, and guitars. Followers of Tim Hecker, Slowdive, Fennesz, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Stephen O'Malley, Type and 12K Records will surely nod in approval.

Hey guys, we are putting on a showcase of new Manchester bands soon, would be great to see you there!

The Gut and The Girth proudly present...

A diverse line up to introduce you to a bunch of new and/or up and coming Manchester bands, intended as a celebration of the seemingly unending reserves of creative energy possessed by Manchester's musicians!

With That Knife [http://www.myspace.com/withthatknife]
A fantastic bunch of lads play a fantastic bunch of tunes, not dissimilar to Foals.

Cadences [http://www.myspace.com/cadencesuk]
Ex members of Blueprint to a Downfall create massive metallic soundscapes, with an ear for a hook and clever usage of shifting dynamics.

Dear Brutus [http://www.myspace.com/brutusmcr]
Minus the Bear meets Polar Bear Club. Or somewhere between Alexisonfire and Friendly Fires. So there's a definite bears and fires theme.

The FTSE 100
Various gents, including members of The Freezing Fog and Burnst, play music for fans of Don Cabellero and Stevie Wonder.

La Haine [http://www.myspace.com/lahainesounds]
Instrumental noise peddlers play shoegazey, dub-influenced tunes.

Tuesday 28th July

Saki Bar [http://www.myspace.com/cafe_saki]

£5 on the door. If possible, we are going to try to make tickets available in advance.
