Intense, hypnotic vocals set against a backdrop of immensely talented musicians, creating hauntingly melodic tunes. A classic collision of country and acoustic, with a touch of darkness, oodles of passion and songs that hold up on their own.
In his autobiographical solo debut, Jack Brown, former Little Nikita front man, tackles hard-hitting topics such as self destruction, eating disorders, male prostitution, jail time, alcohol abuse and drug dependency, with the same vigour and brutality as musicians of yesteryear.
I defy you not to sing along or tap your feet to the catchy ‘Disgrace of God,’ to have your curiosity peaked about the events that brought about ‘Mother’s Boy Blues’ or simply to get an overwhelming urge to stick ‘Tomorrow’ on permanent repeat.
‘The Epitaph of Jack Brown and the Dead Man’s Orchestra’ is sure to be a landmark victory for all the singer-songwriters out there who perpetually strive to weave a tale with words against a backlash of uninspiring bubblegum pop and emo-rock; without realising it, Mr Brown has gone to war against the archetypal clones of today.
THE ALBUM 'THE EPITAPH OF JACK BROWN AND THE DEAD MAN'S ORCHESTRA' OUT SOON
Recorded and produced and mixed by Danny Spence and Jack Brown
You are a genius. Disgrace of God is brilliant and This Is The Way is utterly beautiful. I've got to get this stuff man, instead of me coming on your myspace to listen to it everyday!
Just sent you the link to the beloved Mr Beer - which I am sure you will have already - it's just that if you find yourself in his musical proximity I'm sure you feel very spiritually at home! I'm going to have to break the bank and buy a Jack Brown record now! (I wouldn't mind but it's the Jack Brown King Liar song rendered by Jack Brown that is really on my mind!) LC. X
THE VOW play their first UK show in 7 years at the Stamford Riverside festival on Saturday July 7th.
The band are on the main stage at 5.15pm playing a 40 minute set.... Expect all the classic tracks plus a couple of nice new surprises to boot. Admission is free but please arrive early.
In my house there's this light switch that doesn't do anything. Every so often I would flick it on and off just to check. Yesterday, I got a call from a woman in Germany. She said, "Cut it out."
Thanks for being our special guest artist at The Band of 2007 competition. Even though you wasn't competeing but entertaining the crowd while the votes were being counted several people voted for you. Cool as.... Thanks for helping out.
I listened to your song yesterday but to be honest I couldn't be bothered to leave a comment about how much I liked it... Right now however I can be bothered... and its a fantastic track.
Ciao.
