I got my first guitar as a sophmore in high school, in hopes of being a bad-ass like James Hetfield (circa 1986-87) or as ragingly cool as Blacky from Voivod (always wanted to shave the side of my head, but was always to much of a wussy). Neither of those things happened, needless to say. Somewhere in college, I switched to bass. I've played in metal bands (Whorizun/dead wall noise), punk bands ( the Fucks) and a mess of noise bands (Kid Panda Hands, Weedghost, Untamed Pony, Dinner of Swords, Flesh World and any of the countless bands thrown together to spread terror and nausea on an unsuspecting crowd). Dead Winds of Summer is an outlet for the dronier aspects of what goes on in my head. It began when I got my second 4 track, one that had ten million more knobs and inputs than my first, a very neanderthal little thing with one input and three knobs. This music was/is inspired by the awesome decaying nature of shitty cassette 4 tracking, and the beauty of starting with a series of noises and ending up somewhere else entirely, washed out and crackly, due to the numerous times I tend to reuse crappy tapes. I hope to have a new cd out this fall and some new material up soon. If you like this stuff, you should also check out the Weedghost site (in my friends), the older brother, if you will, to Dead Winds. Y'know, the one with Playboy magazies and cigarettes that listens to Rush and scares your friends. That's Weedghost. Check it out, and thanks for listening.
