DEFEATED SANITY was formed c.1994 as a project of Wolfgang Teske (guitar) and Lille Gruber (drums) with the intention to play the most
brutal and intense Death Metal possible. The band started playing shows in 1996 with the help of session musicians Jonas Gruber (bass) and
Robert Colnik (vocals). With this line-up the band also recorded 2 demos ‘Devoured By The Black’ (1996) and ‘Withdrawn From Beauty’
(1998).
The next step was to find musicians able to play the very complicated and difficult songs. Those guys were Tino Köhler (bass) and Christian
Münzner (guitar). In 2001 Czech label GRODHAISN PRODUCTIONS released a split-CD with POPPY SEED GRINDER with vocals by
Marcus Keller. Also recorded in 2001 was the ‘Collapsing Human Failures’ contribution to the Split 7” EP with IMPERIOUS MALEVOLENCE,
which would be the last containing guitarist Christian Münzner (who then became part of NECROPHAGIST).
In late 2004 the band released their debut full length album, 'Prelude To The Tragedy' on UK label GRINDETHIC RECORDS.
2005 was the year of Line-Up Changes, bringing Jens Staschel (voc), Christian Kühn (guitar) and Jacob Schmidt (bass) into the band.
In August 2006 the band entered Soundlodge Studios and recorded their second album, 'Psalms Of The Moribund' which was released by Grindethic Records in March 2007.
When the band returned from their first US Tour in May/June 2008, Wolfgang and Jens left the band through different reasons while Defeated Sanity kept working on new material.
When the compositions for Defeated Sanity's third full length album were almost finished, the band left Grindethic to sign with Willowtip Records while they were still not sure who would sing on "Chapters Of Repugnance". After a long search the band finally found a vocalist who had all the desired attributes, which was AJ Magana (Disgorge, Deprecated).
The new album will soon be mixed and mastered and released via Willowtip this winter.

looking forward to the new cd so much, my band Decrepit Womb got offered to play with you guys in London, February but its the same day we're playing with Insision from Sweden and a load of other bands so we had to decline. Sucks as i would love to see you guys live again sooner, and also the venue you are playing at is awesome! The sound there is good so i guarantee you'll enjoy it there. Looks like i'll catch you at Deathfeast next year, gonna be unreal seeing you with AJ, excited about it.
If the Defeated Sanity and Condemned tour ever happens. could we jump on the tour with you guys? that would be amazing! Were just wrapping up the recording of our 1st album. so if you lets us were down. Damn you Steve already listen to the new album. ive been just watching MOD Vids on youtube. i cant stop haha -Joel
we're still trying to get that tour started man! I think we both just need to release our CDs and get different offers.. We're determined to tour with you guys in the future, its going to happen. I listened to the new stuff on CD from AJ and i have one of the tracks from studio west on my ipod.. Its all ive been listening to hahah the heaviest most insane shit ive heard in thee longest time.. i want the rest of it... lol
