Love the songs, great times ahead for these two
DELTA comprises of Grainger and Naomi. Grainger writes the majority of songs and Naomi sings the majority of the material. They perform as an acoustic duo and also with the Delta Band. They have known each other since Naomi walked into Graingers class aged 7. They live in Brierley Hill, which is sandwiched in between Stourbridge and Dudley in the Black Country, West Midlands. Their music is a rich blend of acoustic/indie/country/soul but basically their music is the DELTA SOUND. Theres nothing quite like it. It sounds like everything and nothing youve heard before. Welcome to the Delta world.
Delta are presently finishing their debut album (The life and times of Jim Vallie and Sweet Rosalyn) and are working on a video for their debut single (Ten years in Harlem) hopefully to be released later in the year. The Delta band have supported The Coral and I am Kloot and more recently Delta have supported Howie Payne (ex- The Stands)
Delta are also trying to gig as many places as possible and take their music out to the ears of as many listeners possible either with their band or their intimate acoustic gigs.
If you like the music you hear and would like to know more about our record release later in the year please get in touch or join the delta mailing list.
Its all ahead for now and not behind.
A TALE FROM THE DELTA
One day Delta woke to find they were teenagers, Grainger learnt the guitar and formed a band (as was the norm of the time.) Naomi later joined on vocals and the group had many laughs until Grainger decided to leave and join a different band (Grainger is relieved Naomi forgave him many years later) Suddenly Grainger woke to find himself in his early 20s having had 3/4 years really living the rock n roll dream, supporting well known acts, recording at Olympic Studios, radio, TV work, gigging in New York, total rock n roll with all the shit that comes with it. Having released a record and feeling good about things the band broke up (seems rock n roll wasnt without a sense of irony) the band lived fast, died young and left horrible looking corpses. During these lost years Naomi went to Scotland and trained and qualified as an actress. Just turned 23 Naomi was back from Scotland and Grainger was totally unemployable in the modern world and knackered from burning the candle at both ends, the two regrouped and DELTA was born. They started playing Folk clubs, acoustic nights, pubs and anywhere they could get their music across, sharing lead vocals in a 60s duo kind of way. Grainger at 23 found himself more obsessed then ever with Dylan, Young, Crosby, Simon & Garfunkel and Nick Drake and knew what kind of music Delta should be playing and set out to do it. He rang some old friends and suddenly DELTA had meaning (and more to the point a band to enhance the Delta sound).
DELTA now wake to find themselves either gigging with their band or doing acoustic gigs, recording their debut album, back to burning new candles at both ends having thrown the old candles out, living vampire time, gigging all the time, composing and rehearsing the rest of the time and forcing people to listen to his music the remainder of the time left after the other time has been used up. DELTA is always after new listeners and urges people to stop reading this drivel and listen to the songs (whether through the net, at a gig or by tracking them down and coming round their house for a cup of tea and sing song). If you like Dylan, Neil Young, Nick Drake or great female singers then Delta may be for you, and if youve got to this part of the biog (whos the more foolish the fool, or the fool who follows him) then you may have also noticed that this is not really a biog but a rib tickling jest.
Love, Peace and Happiness forever
