Prog Power Compilation 2007 featuring "Symphony" by Dendura
Sounds Like
"They have something more than your average Joe-ette goth metal band: insanity" Metal Hammer, Summer 2008 issue
"Dendura's lead vocalist Aziza has a voice that can, well, drive holes through small mountains. For female vocalists, she's got more power and fury in a simple verse than others have in their most passionate screams. The music itself is very much melodic soundtrack-metal in a remotely similar vein to Queensryche or Dream Theater. Lots of symphonic keyboard work with buck-heavy guitar work. This is a fine example of Egyptian music in a genre all their own." Poseidian at Gothic Beauty Magazine
"Ancient Egyptian approach with a modern touch. Aziza made us all so proud with her charisma and musical existence. She will get your attention and capture your ears. This album has a great spirit. Its holding new ideas and embracing good tones. I was really delighted laying hand on this album. "By Nancy Luke of Metalcentre
"Deep powerful vocals and a melodic sound with the ability to mesmerize you with it's power" - Revue
"Mystical and thought provoking, there is a plethora of melodic breakdowns, lead-breaks and more than your share of thunderous guitar riffs. Sultry, seductive and hypnotic, if the impact of New Life is but just a prelude to the madness, then the world is in for a very special treat." - Black Angel Promotions
"Dendura changes gears with ease, displaying a very unique sound. Aziza's heartfelt vocals carry each well-crafted tune to different emotional levels in convincing fashion, all backed up by a solid line-up of obviously well versed musicians.". Axeman @ Maximummetal.com
"Dendura, probably one of the most promising metal bands in the Midwest from Aziza's sharp vocals to the unique Egyptian/Middle Eastern essence in their sound, Dendura has got it." - Katie Rademacher (Editor) of Revue Magazine

"Dendura presents an unforgettable approach to progressive metal that… touches both the primal and inquisitive nature of our souls…heavy music that drives like the shifting sands, carrying vocals like rising smoke and invoking the ghosts of a land and time long passed..."
– Stuart Banks, president, KillZone Records
Dendura, an Egyptian inspired progressive metal band, combines the seductive vocals of Aziza Poggi (Aziza is Egyptian and Lebanese), the virtuosic guitar talents of Steve Wethy and Paul Stein. Together, the band transcends the boundaries of progressive metal to create a mysterious, unforgettable soundscape. In April 2006, Dendura released New Life, their debut album that attracted several film directors who licensed tracks for Perception, InZero, and the award-winning film Broken. Dendura also penned a metal version of In the Hall of the Mountain King for the Comedy Central series Monsters Ballz and appeared on the ABC affiliate WZZM (Grand Rapids, MI). In 2007, New Life gained distribution through Sonic Cathedral, one of the largest online stores for female vocal music. By August, it became one of Sonic Cathedral's top-ten best-selling albums and the band caught the attention of KillZone Records who signed them shortly thereafter.
In addition, Dendura has tracks on three upcoming CD compilations: The official ProgPower 2007 festival compilation, the Bootleg compilation for WGRD 97.9 FM in Grand Rapids, MI, and the Sirens sampler from Sonic Cathedral due out in the Fall of 2008. Dendura has performed with Edguy, Light This City, Unexpect, Blacklist Union, Egypt Central, and Lennex. Recently, they performed in St. Paul, MN, at the all female fronted metal festival, Flight of the Valkyries and filmed a music video with award winning director, Mike Madigan, for a song that will be featured on their upcoming album. Currently, Dendura is among the top 1% of up and coming bands on MTV 2's On The Rise and has been receiving national and international exposure in international and national metal magazines for their uniqueness. In 2009, Aziza was featured on a track with Nile guitarist and co-founder Karl Sanders (Nuclear Blast Records) for recording project Amarna Sky. As Dendura continues to grow in popularity, fans eagerly await the release of their album “A Divine World” with Grammy winning producer Neil Kernon (Nile, Dokken, Nevermore, Queensryche, Judas Priest).
