BIO
Hardcore Metallic Punks, 2009 WBCN Rumble Semi-Finalists, and heavy touring bastards Destruct-a-thon called it a day and let their beast of a band rest on a Viking ship set aflame and off to sea forever. Nine years, 118 shows, 26 cities, six line-ups, and 30-ish songs all came to an end on Saturday afternoon October 24, 2009 at The Midway Café in Jamaica Plain, MA. The band played a long set, with returning/former band member Ed Bredenberg.
In the summer of 2000, Destruct-a-thon erupted from a mildew soaked basement in Allston, MA. They played their first show on July 14, 2001 at The Abbey Lounge, opening for Heavy Stud and Cracktorch. Since then, they released two EPs and one full length record on their own label (Thrashachusetts). Destruct-a-thon was in the process of writing a full-length record, but instead fans will have to accept demo recordings as the band’s final document&183;
Killing it like they meant it, Destruct-a-thon was primarily known for their intense live performances, sharing the stage with the likes of The Bronx, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Seemless, Tree, The Freeze, and Kylesa. Michele Morgan and Pattie The Gimp delivered furious guitar riffs. Eric O’Brien, Eman Pacheco, and Nate Linehan slammed the drums with total groove and fast paced insanity. Sean Linehan and Ed Bredenberg attacked with low-end bass thunder. Duncan Wilder Johnson’s “mental patient on crack” stage presence left audiences in absolute fear and crazed enthusiasm.
In the nine years of the their existence, the band garnished praise in East Coast newspapers and international metal and punk blogs. They killed such towns as BOSTON, NYC, Philly, Long Island, Burlington, VT, Portland, ME, Providence, RI, Richmond, VA, Wahington DC, Asbury Park, NJ, Trenton, NJ, Baltimore, MD, WORCESTER, MA, FUCKIN' LOWELL DUDE, New Bedford, MA, and even little old Upton, MA.
Their last show slaughtered with the heat of 10,000 suns.
