Welcome to the page of the legendary DIBDUB SOUNDSYSTEM, a progressive, energetic roots based outfit defined by bass, here to rock the place. DIBDUB first formed as an embryo in the belly of the beautiful devon hills in the year 2000, filling a void which had formed just outside of Exeter, stopping the hippys getting sucked away into an ether of nothingness, doomed to float the desolate planes of nowhere, forever to be missed. The stability that DIBDUB provided to the local atmosphere was rewarded by being given a regular club night at the world famous CAVERN CLUB exeter, where you can still see us regularly today. The birth of DIBDUB at the CAVERN in 2002 saw the rise of DIBDUB SOUNDSYSTEM an almagamation of DJ's and live instruments, blended together with concious, attitude free vocals, and dubbed out effects. After 4 years of tearing up dancefloors across the u.k. Dibdub returned to base station for some hibernation and music creation and emerged a year later with DIBDUB LIVE, a project of original, heartfelt, skanking records and continued the quest to keep those asses shaking. Now, in 2008 as The Live returns underground for more creation, the people of Devon and beyond need to get ready to embrace the vibrations of the legendary DIBDUB SOUNDSYSTEM for another year of fat beats in the name of reggae, ska, dub, jungle, breaks, drum and bass and just about any other kind of music that we can find or create that will get yer skanking, and help you to move those dancing feet. Dougie Conscious from the Bush chemists, is a Roots ambassador : more than just a dedicated fan of King Tubby, Lee Perry, Scientist and the dub dynasty of the ‘70s and early ‘80s, Dougie started making his own sounds in 1989 with a simple four-track owned by one of his friend (Nick Manasseh). Producing several albums and LPs since 1996’s under the Conscious Sounds label, he released some of the hardest digital roots and crucial steppers in Britain.
Coptic Sound System is coming from Lille-Roubaix, north of France with his 9x1,25Kw sound system. Starting in 2000, Nic Coptic and Jericho I were playing radio shows and kept on spreading the conscious vibes by creating also the CSSA, Community Sound System Association. Coptic sound is a wonderful digital producer and they played with top international sounds as Aba Shanti, Channel one, Jah free, Insiration sound and many more.
