Most artist's come out of the gate running. And maybe, Annelise Noronha and Byron Wong of The Safe Word Project will too. But they each bore a giant history of over-achievement between the two of them before they ever set upon making music together. Infectious, dark, "organitronica" together.
Acclaimed for "rocking as hard as the boys..." , Toronto singer/songwriter Annelise Noronha was due for a new album. Her previous 2001 self produced/engineered CD My Dog is You, had received much critical praise, of which the song "Saviour" had gained notoriety on the Internet Movie Database among curious fans of Clement Virgo's movie Lie With Me, where the song ran through the closing credits.
The romantic tragedy of her writing true to form, the partnership with Wong brings a new life to it. Byron, a producer and musician, who cut his teeth working with such artist's as The Crystal Method, The Eurythmics, Delerium, David Bowie, and Beck to name a few, works TSWP's songs into a "Postal Service meets Jon Brion meets Justice" kind of way.
Other interesting things?
Annelise's studio rat resume includes working with such artists as James Brown, Jennifer Lopez, and Oscar Peterson.
Byron hosted CityTV's The New Music from 1997 to 1999.
