"Dirty Epics are among the best of the new breed of Irish bands currently making waves. With just one single under their belts to date, clearly they have a long way to go. But in front woman SJ Wai, they have a very special talent indeed. It's not just that she has loads of sex appeal. She is driven, charismatic and impressively confident. And the band exhibit a spiky punk pop sensibility that promises hit singles to come. File under: watch this space....."Niall Stokes, Editor, Hotpress Magazine from 'Tomorrow the World'..Hotpress Year Book 2007."SJ Wai, the singer of Dublin band Dirty Epics, is one of the most exciting performers in the country"...from Epic Tales of Love by Martin Burns-News of the World 24/02/08.The band, fronted by their boisterous singer SJ Wai, are Cormac Farrell-Guitar, Richard Power-Bass and Alan Delaney-Drums.The foundations of the band date back to their school days where SJ, Cormac and Richie first honed their skills together as song-writers and musicians. Meanwhile in a town far far away, Alan's musical genius was also taking shape. Their electrifying performances have seen them gig at : Tripod -supporting The Rapture, Crawdaddy- their Launch Gig on the 11th of April was voted 'Gig of the Week' by The Irish Times The Ticket, The New Band Stage- Oxegen 2007, TBMC - Delorentos Album Launch, The POD at their packed out Hard Working Class Heroes performance, Music Ireland 2007 at the RDS and various other hotspots around the country.Their debut single 'Demolition Man' a furious pop rock love song for the 21st century went on sale in April 2007. Well received by critics and radio, it was used on RTE as a promo for top TV drama 'Grey's Anatomy' and has also been used on the Hughes and Hughes/Hotpress 'Fly With Me - The Best in Irish Music' promo cd with established artists Phil Lynnott, Sinead O'Connor and BellX1.They have just completed their hotly anticipated debut album 'Straight In No Kissing', raunchy rock, pop and punk tunes. The album is due out Summer 2008.

hey guys!erm nah i never made it to oxegen this year!:( but next year i'll be there for sure!:) how did the festival go anyway?heard your song pony on spin!love it sooo much. its full of energy!xxx
Howzit. If you're being interviewed by "Rory" on Spin 2moro, can you please wake him up to the fact that an being an Irish band is a good thing. Heard him there disparaging "oh no another irish band failureism" couple of weeks ago...thought that view was last decade. Then again he's young & he'll learn...No slander intended;just be careful. All the brightest
Hey Alan, didn't see you after the gig the last night, but hey great stuff. Ye were class, really enjoyed it. Love the new single especially. Anyway, all the best for the future. Dave.
Hi thanks so much for the add on your page...best wishes to you from Cork City Ireland...hope you get a chance to check out my new songs.. and maybe leave a comment .....thanks again for the add.....Hope your well ... your friend patrick k
You seemed 2 have gone down a storm @ Oxegen! Unfortunately, I couldn't attend the thing because of work. F*ck it anyway! :-/ Not 2 sound like a crazy feckin' killjoy now, but I heard radio reports that at least 2 girls were sexually assaulted up there. Was it rough enough up there this year? I dunno if the 4 of you were ambling around the site with the general 'great unwashed' (I've been to Oxegen twice b4- I *know*!) now or not! There were a fair few skanger types when I was there. Myself&my friends were in a tent,&1 of da tents beside us played host 2 some major, uh, 'rough diamonds'! They were in their 30s, I'd say. The 3 of them spent the 2 nights doing crack cocaine (we heard EVERYTHING), & 1 of the fellas p*ssed on our damn tent! We were livid, but he was as high as a feckin' skylight! :-o
I love your song 'Overrated'- very edgy altogether, like Pantera-meets-Yeah Yeah Yeahs. That little beaut will keep da fckrs on their toes @ ur gigs! :-D
SJ, I can't believe it's easier 2 get on TV than radio in this country! Weird! I don't get that at all. I'm still texting that bollix Tony Fenton whenever I happen 2 hear him (ooh, I'm a lucky one, aren't I?!). Ray Foley has recently been the recipient of my 'Play Dirty Epics please' requests lately as well. Da saucy b@stard hasn't uttered a word in response tho (YET). I'll keep haranguing those scallywags on Today FM!
Good luck in Oxegen, have a good ole wig out!!! By the way, we were in Drogheda the other day and I was reading their lineups and you're down as dirty ethics, I had a lil chuckle to meself... Rock the show!!!

I hope you're havin' a fab summer gigging all around the place. I'm lovin' the tunes. I requested your songs on Today FM recently but it was like communicating with a corpse. What, in the name of Jesus, does it take to get on their playlist?? Your music is sh*tloads better than some of the crap they play.
I'd say you'd have to buy Ray Foley/Tony Fenton/Tom Dunne/Alison Curtis a few fancy dinners to get yourself on their playlists. I'll be more specific now, tho! Buy Ray Foley a couple of porn movies&he'll paint your kitchen ceiling for u. Buy Tony Fenton a compact mirror so he can admire himself no matter where he is throughout the day- in the car, on the loo, whatever..! Do a painting depicting the yesteryear glory of the band 'Something Happens'&watch an ecstatic Tom Dunne gleefully accept it! Alison Curtis? Give her a necklace with a little maple leaf on it (she's Canadian, isn't she?)!
So, that's the masterplan guys! Foolproof stuff! Haha. Have a great week! 'Pony' KICKS ASS. :-D Keep up the 'epic' work.
Toronto's Indie Week festival is coming to Ireland this July.
Due to the amount of Irish bands applying through sonicbids to play at the Canadian festival this Oct, the organisers have decided to host 2 showcases in Ireland to see the bands live and decide ,through their performances, who should play in Toronto.
The Showcases will be held in The Village, Dublin (July 24th) and Dolans Warehouse, Limerick (July 25th) Due to a limited number of slots for the showcases the bands will be selected for the showcases out of the sonicbids applications.
This is an amazing opportunity for Irish bands to play in front of the Canadian music industry in the heart of the Canadian music capital, Toronto. Last years "Best of the Fest" winners, Ireland's Vesta Varro have gone on to secure a release for their album Exit Here in North America and will be touring this Fall.
Really enjoy your music! It's great to come on MySpace and go to other countries and listen to what's going on with music there. Have you on my profile so maybe others here in the U.S. will here your great sound.
