Dissonant Elephant has been created in the early 90's as the result of a musical impulse. It is not a "band", just a name I've choosen to release my musical works. I'm an autodidact musician that started to practice guitar in the mid-eighties, but it was merely a hobby at that time. Nonetheless, one day I've felt the need to correct my technical defaults. So I took guitar lessons for one year, in fact the only time I've ever studied music in an "academic" way. But this has been an important year... My teacher was Frédéric L'épée, guitarist of Philharmonie at that time and I owe him my decision to pursue in the musical world. During the time I took lessons with him, he has truly helped me to reveal myself as a musician. Looking back at this period of my life, I'm sure now that it wasn't an accidental meeting: he was the right person at the right moment. So I began to seriously immerge myself in composition, starting to learn the piano as well as continuing my guitar practice, all this leading to the creation of Dissonant Elephant. To this day, three albums have been released: "Our eyes like daggers" in 1994 and "B'il Sabab" in 1997, both autoproductions, and "Le réveil de Neptune" in 2007 on the italian label Old Europa Café. My influences are numerous, but the names of Robert Fripp, Frédéric L'épée, David Sylvian, Magma, the Art Bears and composers such as John Tavener, Georgy Sviridov, Steve Reich, Erik Satie, Morton Feldman or Olivier Messiaen can provide an outlook of the music that makes me grow. I've also a deep interest for the Japanese pop and rock scene, which provides one of the most interesting music I've heard lately. As I said before, Dissonant Elephant was created as the result of a musical impulse, but also of a wish, which has remained unchanged until this day: to be able to create a music that is free of forms and categories, a music that truly can speak to both heart, spirit and soul. .... .. .. ......
