Ditchwater Records is the record-making department of Ditchwater Zine. We are dedicated to putting out the finest music from Houston's underground. All records will be limited edition of 200 or 300, always black vinyl and always black and white artwork. Get them while they last.
DW001 GAY MARRIAGE EP - Gay Marriage recorded one record and played a handful of gigs before they broke up and moved away. Their name one can only assume describes the union of hardcore, punk rock and grindcore (sweartogod!). A few official demos exist that they gave away at shows. This record includes those stupidly catchy tracks plus unreleased tracks. Ridiculously rare. 200 7"s. Photography by R. Guerrero and highly objectionable cartoon by Eric Roy himself!! OUT NOW!
DW002 THE BORN LIARS 7" - "Don't Tell Me, I Know" b/w "I Don't Know Why". Born Liars are master songwriters and superior performers. "Don't Tell Me" is a fine example of their raucous rock and roll output. And check out their ripping version of Stevie Wonder's "I Don't Know". I've been singing their praises for years and am proud they asked me to release this. If you know who Wilko Johnson is just go ahead and get it sight unseen. 7", 45rpm, run of 300, HEAVY WEIGHT VINYL!! United Record Pressing is no longer making heavy weight 7" vinyl. This is it, folks! OUT NOW!
DW004 THE WRONG ONES Three dark Texas glampunk songs mark the first single by this exceedling talented young band. Lithe and sinister frontman Jarret Barger leads the pack while kid brother Brandon pens the tragically cool tunes. Quite an acomlishment at only seventeen. Real contenders . Think Dead Boys with less sneer and more weird. OUT NOW!
DW005 DEAD ROSES Ralf Armin, Ralf Armin, Ralf Armin. He coulda been the mascot for the 30 year Island Reunion gig that, alas, didn't happen. But cooler than that, he still sports eyeliner, still swings a bass, and still is punker than you, junior! Dead Roses is his vehicle to your heart.OUT NOW!

Upcoming releases:
DW003 MATT MAYO. Dude wrote some heavy duty punk rock with The Mullens (Get Hip! Records). After wanking around on yachts for a few years, he's back - a little more tanned but not much mellowed. This record is a powerpop fan's dream! Soon.
DW006 THE TAKES As unholy smelling and ragged-ass as the petrochemical town they were raised in, these Mexi-punks spew spazzy but metered lo-fi garage madness. Super snazzy intros. Soon
Coming soon! Ditchwater Records working with the brothers Ortiz to release the shoulda-been-a-mega-hit single "What Went Wrong" by Houston/Austin's Amplified Heat. . AND we also have Houston ex-pat Chris Newton bringing his scorching blues vocals via his rollickin' band Scrips.
Even more punk rock in production! Details will follow as they become more concrete...

"I dunno about you, but as cool as things like Flickr can be, I still get a weird thrill when I look at real-live printed pitchers, and with Ditchwater, that's what Rosa serves up -- all pictures, little text, no filler. Seriously, the zine's damn neat; if you've ever wanted a glimpse into the sordid, self-referencing, sarcastically earnest underbelly of the H-town scene, well, you can feast your eyes upon DW's often-candid, sometimes-dirty, always-intriguing Xeroxed pages."
