If any rumors happen to emerge in the coming days, they are all true. Every single one of them. Including those that don't involve us. But know that you read it here first. Divinity Destroyed has disbanded.
More information, personal insights, and rumors we'll start just for kicks will be posted here frequently so keep checking back. But just know that it's not your fault and we still love you and your sister.
The new album we've been prepping since the mid-70s will indeed be recorded and released (via online retailers). And yes, the show on December 19th, originally planned to raise funds for the studio, will be our last show. At least for a while. Should we decide to regroup for an occasional outing (either for all of you, ourselves, or in response to threats), you'll be the first to know. Even before us. So stay tuned.
We apologize to anyone who has a Divinity tattoo. You're so fucked.
Um, can you please not disband, please? The only good excuse would be death. Are you dead? If not, you should keep writing music and performing. Mozart, Beethoven, Charlie Parker, Divinity Destroyed...music until death. So, if you're not dead, please keep writing. There are untalented musicians aurally abusing people all over the planet, so people like you are necessary in order to maintain some kind of sonic balance.
Thanks for the add guys! I did not know you guys were still around. I listened to you like eight years ago glad to see you guys are still rockin. Check out my site www.fredthecup.com Thanks! If you would be interested in becoming fred thecups artist of the week sometime let me know! Fred The Cup
Gentlemen... I first heard of DD while at the Cinco de Mayo show with Static X and 2Cents at the Starland Ballroom in like…what…2005…? Amazing show…but you guys really blew me away. I ended up going home that night with 2 of your CD’s, and ordered the rest the next day. That show was during a very dark chapter of my life, and I know that listening to your music helped me snap out of it. Unfortunately, I was never able to acquire Eden in Ashes, but I’m still determined… (Yeah, Mark…I was that guy from the Into Eternity show who ordered it from a certain website, only to have the order cancelled like 6 months later.) Being in a band myself, you all have been a real inspiration for me (www.myspace.com/BourbonDevelopment Check us out if you get bored…Yay, shameless self promotion!). Even a very good friend of mine was always thrilled to come with me to your shows. That friend is currently applying for doctorate programs in music theory as she finishes up her masters in Boston. Just a perfect example of the broad spectrum of people that your music appeals to. Anypoop, ass-kissery aside, I’ve been a fan since the aforementioned Cinco de Mayo show, and I’ve seen you guys several times since. You can bet I’m gonna’ try like hell to make it 12/19. Thank you all for everything you have done, and the best of luck with everything you haven’t done yet. Slainte!</
Very sad that you guys are breaking up :-(. I've loved you guys for years, first time I saw you I was 15 and it was in OCC in some tiny little room, one of the best shows ever though! Ever since then I've seen you guys a few times, including in Monmouth Mall acoustic not too long ago... you guys make awesome music while you were around and it's sad to see you break up!
i have ben in to music since i was a baby my mom used to play the greats sting, bruce, doo woop 60's 70's 80's and in spite of the nightmare my life was growing up i look back and remember the fond safe feelings music gave me when everything around me crashed down i turned on the radio and some ones voice told me it was ok with out telling me. When i was 19 my exgirlfriend went through a car window and passed away i have never properly healed from that at 28 i still find myself in tears and most of my life i closed out feelings towards everything
as time went on music has helped me heal more and more through the insane life i live as a promoter but the day i heard your music the song indigo to be exact it gave me faith and promise that real people and true emotions in music still exist and it allowed me to feel hopefull again in what i do and the life i live it may sound like alot but its the truth i am currently going through a painfull relatioship with someone and the cd in my player says DIVINTY DESTROYED across it i havent known you guys long and i speak with mark more than any one but if you realy understood what your music has done for me some one who see's a million bands a year that faith would be restored in your selfs im not asking im begging you guys not to stop
EVERY PASSING MINUTE IS ANOTHER CHANCE TO TURN IT ALL AROUND
honestly, i feel like this is a damn shame. u guys were really something fuckin special and u were a really awesome band to watch. and slowly but surely i learned the words to all ur songs. i am very sad to see this news about a break up.
I'm definitely going to the Belmar show. I'll be driving about 2.5 hrs to see you. I hope to maybe see some of the former members too, except for Rob. Fuck Rob!
I only use this myspace to browse music, but I felt the need to comment (Hopefully you guys will read):
I went to one of your shows in Toms River, when Mark was still on the guitar, I believe it was 2005. Anyway, I always considered that my first concert, as I was 15 or 16 at the time and had only just been getting into heavier music about a year prior. I followed you guys throughout Jersey for the next couple years, they were good times guys. I remember once me and some of my buddies met up with you guys at some Rt 9 Pizza Place once to buy tickets for one of your shows. I even had you guys sign my ticket when you opened up for Cradle of Filth a few years back, because I was just excited to see you as I was them.
The point of my ramble is, you guys were always my "hometown heroes". I know trying to make it must have been hard, and when I saw you the summer before I went away to college in 2008 at the Pony I had some strange feeling it would be the last time. Just wanted to thank you all for the good metal memories, as others have said I hope to maybe see you guys grace the stage again one day, even if it is just for fun. I would be at that December show no matter what if I wasn't going to be 200 miles away, in the midst of finals.
NO NO NON ONONONO FOR FUCKS SAKE DO NOT DISBAND!!!!!!!!! I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!! NO NO NO NO NONO NO NO NO. WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im gonna cry
Even though i wasn't there from the beginning, you guys quickly became my favorite band. i must say, its depressing to watch my favorite band disappear. your music is usually playing in my room 70% of the time. Needless to say We will all miss you guys. and I will be at the belmar show to say my farewells. good luck in your future endeavors.
You all know that no words I could say would possibly be able to convey how I feel. This cannot be the end of Divinity Destroyed. All of these fans have so much to say when it comes to this shit, but where was everyone at the shows? I say every single person who says they truly love this band and the music they play show up to the Belmar show and show them that though they think they are done, we are not. To those whose lives have changed in any way through this band, show up and pay the respect that is due.
To Rick, Tom, Jim, Joe, and Mark, you know I'd do anything for you guys. Whether it's work merch at Starland instead of watching you guys play, or take a shot in the balls in the middle of Rutgers. I always knew this day would come, but this doesn't feel like that day. It truly feels like something is missing. Some last piece that just never fell into place. Like it's just not right for you to be done yet. I have seen you guys put your sweat, your blood, your lives into this band. To ask you to continue on after as long as its been is almost an impossible request, rude and inconsiderate at best. But to be completely honest, we need you guys. And I think before long, you will notice that you need us just as much.
No matter what happens, thank you for everything over the past many years. It's been a fun, crazy, hysterical ride and life wouldn't of been anywhere near as fun without you guys.
