Hey there, fella film lovers...
At This time, I would like to introduce myself.
My name is Jack Truman. I am a filmmaker. And I love to make films that open people's eyes, make them talk, make them think, and make them realize how different all of us are. That's what makes this world so great; that all of us are free to be different.
Our independent film company, Dixie Productions, kicked off in high gear in January 2006 at the 2006 Slamdance Film Festival. Our short mockumentary Phone Sex Grandma was a hit to standing-room only audiences. Since its hit Slamdance premiere, PHONE SEX GRANDMA: the Short continues to play worldwide, while receiving rave reviews. To date, our hit short has played at over 100 festivals worldwide, with more buzz to come...stay tuned for upcoming hot news on PHONE SEX GRANDMA!
Our new documentary short THE OUTHOUSE had its World Premiere at the 2008 Slamdance film festival as part of Slamdance's $99 short block. Slamdance gave me $99 and 99 days to make a short under 5 minutes. This is our long-awaited follow-up short to the hit film PHONE SEX GRANDMA! And to date, OUTHOUSE has played over 50 festivals worldwide!
I currently have 5 short films playing festivals worldwide. To date, my short films have screened at over 200 festivals around the world. And now, I have a built-in cult base for my upcoming first feature film!
It's amazing what has happened with these little short films. They have put me on the map as a filmmaker, and truly taken a life of their own. This is a perfect example of what can happen when you create and make something that only you can see....that everyone else is against, and cannot envision....when you have no help....and have to do everything yourself, to make your independent voice heard. No matter what people think. No matter what.
And you may wonder, who am I? Well...I'm just a poor filmmaker, not afraid to make films that others are afraid to make. We have to be free and show our independence. My films are designed to shock people, open their eyes and make them think. If I can open one person's eyes and get a message across, I have done my job as a filmmaker!
Declare your independence. Make your voice be heard. The world deserves it -
