DJ Chris Robin

About me:

Chris has been DJ'ing since 1999 and became a member of the J-Funk crew in 2000, when he was invited to spin in the soon-to-be legendary Club Vinylo at Jyväskylä's Vakiopaine. In 2001 Chris moved briefly to Helsinki, where he played in venues such as Jump-Inn and the internationally acknowledged Freeform drum'n bass club at Club Kerma. In 2002 Chris moved to Funchal, Portugal, where he began infusing some completely new sounds of drum'n bass and breaks into the local party scene. As a resident DJ at the top night clubs Monge and Bar Do Mar, as well as hosting DnB-nights in the Club Marginal he brought on his exotic northern vibe as the first drum'n bass DJ on the island.

The year 2004 saw Chris return to Finland to begin his studies in music management, and he then met the Usva crew, known for organizing the only drum'n bass night in Jyväskylä, tellingly called Wake-Up!. Chris then become an integral part of the Wake-Up! crew, both as a promoter and a DJ.

During the last couple of years Chris has been promoting numerous events in Jyväskylä, such as Vinylo, Wake-Up!, Maanantai-Klubi, and the For Funk's Sake! club festival in Jazz Bar. Since the summer of 2008 Chris has been running FunKlub, a funk&soul monthly in Poppari.

The latest in Chris Robin's endeavours is promoting and co-hosting the drum'n bass club night REMEDY, launched in October 2008. So far Remedy has brought in guest DJs such as Shock One (AUS), Culture Shock (UK), The Brookes Brothers (UK), Inside Info (UK) and Physics (HKI)
