Straight From the streets of Queens New York Comes Dj Jay West, One of the east coasts hottest club and mixtape Dj’s Out of the Desert Storm Family (Dj Clue, Don Demarco, Dj Storm). Like any other Dj, west started his musical mission at the age of fourteen playing at local house and block parties creating a name for himself locally in the streets of Far Rockaway. It was at the age of nineteen when he met fellow local dj skavelli and was given the opportunity to play in some major venues in the NYC area. Although grateful for the opportunity, West knew that there was something bigger and better. He became more interested in making and breaking the records then just playing them.
In 2001 his curiosity led him and two friends to build a studio were he learned the fundamentals of recording a record. Everything from vocaling, mixing, mastering, music production and the format of putting a record together. It was in 2002 when west was introduced to a new young talented Mc by the name of Stack bundles. West was impressed right away by what he heard and contacted his cousin and now manager Miller and right away he was also impressed. From that point on miller Got in touch With Skane Dollar (Desert Storm) and the rest was history.
In 2004 west parted Ways with his partners and set out on a new venture…The Mixtapes. At the time he was Regular in house engineer for stack Bundles and Joe buddens, so he had access to some heavy players. So with the help of his Desert Storm Affiliate Don Demarco and Manager Miller, West Dropped Street Credibility and Caught the streets ear. After the release of Street credibility when, west was featured on mtv’s TRL as engineer For Joe buddens and popular mtv vj LaLa. The appearance was followed up by the release of street credibility 2 and the rest is history.
In 2005 his manager Miller and Texas native Dj storm formed desert storm south the label with acts like the swisha house alumni Magnificent and newcomer young tex. West was given the job of A & R for the label and is currently seeking new and hot talent and at the same time keeps the streets on fire.
