Dj Rogue biography

Dj David, DMC championships 1991. Two turntables separated by four coke cans, the drop… “Hear the drummer get Wicked!” - thus begins a young Jamie Perkins aka Dj Rogue’s fascination with turntabalism. From wrecking his mums Record collection and Midi Hi Fi system to regular slots at some of the finest live music venues the nation has to offer. It’s a journey that has encompassed Hip Hop, Reggae, Dub, Steppa’s, Dubstep and everything else along the way as the young man Perkins crafts burly, sizzling percussive breaks that ebb with menacing sub bass. A string of main support slots with the likes of ROOTS MANUVA, DJ CASH MONEY(twice), MARLEY MARL, DEAD PREZ, ANTI POP CONSORTIUM, SKINNYMAN, RODNEY P, UGLY DUCKLING, HORACE ANDY, RA the RUGGED MAN, PHAROAHE MONCH, SMITH N MIGHTY, HENRY N LOUIS, to name but a few, as well as dj’ing at festivals such as ASHTON COURT, SHAMBALA, ITCHY COO, and GLASTONBURY, along with a whole heap of headliner slots. Rogue has niced up many a function with his unique brand of Scratch Reggae and dub sets – expect a juggle or two, a mash up of styles and sounds, but most importantly, the perfect accompaniment to winding up ones waist.

As a man who is ALWAYS willing to team up with like-minded individuals, this Dj has never been short of collaborators over the years. As part of CIVILIAN (Rogue and stepchild), ALL LIVE DYNAMICS (Live Hip hop band), cuts on a vinyl release for the legendary VINYL JUNKIE, BRITISH INTELLIGENCE, FRUIT OF THE DOOM, as well as working with Mc's, SIRPLUS and B’Tol, he’s never short of work or admirers. You can currently catch Dj Rogue behind the decks for a host of Bristols finest talents – Hip Hop super group THE SWAMPS and punishing production and rhyme combo SOBER AND DRIBBLA. What’s more, he’s one arm of the Vertebrae band featuring BEN ONE on live mpc and AWKWARD on the m-I-c. Currently in the works is a live group consisting of long time collaborator and lyrical virtuoso B’Tol, sweet soul lady Eva Lazarus, Vertebrae’s Ben One and Ben the Drummer of First Degree Burns… all sprinkled with double bass badness. Rogue is currently releasing a string of sure shots on Bristol label Dead Calm music, having just released “Shadow Integration” w/ “Love for a Lifetime” to much critical and regional fare, he’s rarely seeing a week without a show.
