Tyler Hinkelman (dj surora) Born and raised in cleveland ohio... 7-15-87... first getting into electronic music when he was 13. Was first introduced and intrigued by the sounds of the Crystal Method with their debut hit of "busy child" on their album vegas. After falling into big beat, his taste strayed into the sounds of progressive trance through the years of 98-03. then after being exposed to Dieselboys album the 6th session, and Aphrodite's first drumnbass album that came out in 92, his taste completely changed from 4 on the floor to proper break beats... Learning to Dj shortly around the age of 14 practicing on a friends set of decks, and has been hooked ever since. Tyler says- "Influences for me come in many forms...Life being 1. ive never had it easy...the music is all ive had sometimes to keep me sane. As far as music influeces. I try not to listen to too much electronica... I lvoe dubstep and a lot of dnb coming out right now is phenomenal but nothing compares to really good jazz, world, soul and rnb. Also urban culture... Graffiti was something i really loved for a long time, but never got too into it due to the fact that i realize its simply not worth getting fined thousands of dollars and jail time to paint a wall. In 2003 i was having a lot of family problems and decided to move to Myrtle Beach with some other family. Down there i developed my true love and interest to do this music for a living. Down there is where i met Dan (Mixmasterdoc) a current new artist in the dnb scene who is on labels such as Sonorous, Creative Source, and 31 records. In 2006 i decided to Move back to Cleveland to pursue an associates degree in recording arts and technology. Unfortunately i was able to hold a job and maintain the responsibility of staying in school. So again all i had was my computer, my decks and my bedroom." Finally Surora has been able to begin to establish a name for himself.. Starting by collabing with artists such as Mixmasterdoc and Shawn Korosiv from NC-17, Tyler is taking his production and djing to the proper next level. "what were seeing in the scene right now is sustainability. the scene is finally over its baby stages. its like seeing hip hop in the late 80s and look at it now." With a current Digital release on Corinthian Recordings, and much more music to come, Tyler is embracing the current climate of the United States and heading into the storm full force.
