About me:

Angela Mazur aka Zwezd@ is one of those fruits who discovered the taste of electronic music in the early ’90s, inspired by the mystic sounds of The Future Sounds Of London and Omni Trio. Being a teenager in the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius was full of action as she worked as a music reporter for publications like EXO Litvy, M+D and Ausys. She was constantly busy going to gigs and raves, meeting celebrities at launch parties and doing interviews at a time when the electronic scene first started kicking off in the Baltic States. Going through punk, hardcore, funk, hip-hop, house, etc. she eventually found the style of music which reflected her hyperactivity the most — drum’n’bass. Soon dancing was not enough to express her creativity, so she started spinning vinyl and quickly scored her first back to back with Sietlas from dnb crew Obuoliai in a bunker located in the Vilnius forest. Unfortunately that first set wasn’t brilliant and there was a lot of criticism on Lithuanian music forums, but the feeling of being behind the decks and controlling the dance floor and her friends’ support kept her going. She created her own dnb chat forum identity, BORN2DRUM:DIE4BASS and on its first anniversary started the JF (Jungle Freaks) crew. As part of the JF Crew, she started putting on dnb events in her hometown and it was here she began collaborating with some Latvian friends, organising the biggest dnb event of the time in the Baltic States, Connexionz. In 2004 she moved to London and there she shared her home with Latvian dnb producers, MCs and DJs. The girl started exploring the big city and searching for new experiences and adventures. She soon found her way to her first squat party in Hackney Wick and the world was never the same again… Meeting new people with the same perspective on music soon helped her get involved with the London rave scene and she started going to raves every weekend. She also began working at Kinetica Museum, where she met lots of experimental artists, musicians and her idols of electronic music, The Future Sound Of London producers. Since moving to London she has been spinning her vinyl collection and collaborating with underground crews like ACME SOUNDZ, Every 1 Sound System, Noce Party’s in Shoreditch and playing at other independent venues in UK and France. Her music style has evolved from dnb as she changed her selection to punky electro, electronic and new wave dispersed with random blasts from the past. She is currently influence by artists like The Future Sound Of London, Aleksandr Robotnik, Hans-Peter Lindstrøm, Popof, Nathan Fake, DJ Hell, Adult and The Horrorist. In her free time off DJing she studies Interior Design at University Of Arts London and works as an event photographer for www.soonnight.com, hunting for crazy looking clubbers at many London and Ibiza venues such as Fabric, Matter, Indigo O2, SE1, Coronet and Eden. Her photography has been published in Italian fashion mag INESCO and UK dance mag CORE and she is now regularly asked to art, fashion and music photo shoots. In May 2009 she played her first set at legendary Brixton venue, the Fridge, for Antiworld Events, then in summer 2009 she discovered the magic of Ibiza Island, where she played for Antiworld Ibiza at Eden. She has since played for other Antiworld parties, Freedom @Medussa and a number of other underground dance music events. With the bookings continuing to roll in, the future is looking bright indeed.
