Blurbs

About me:

I am a former professor of Higher Education and an academic at heart. My Academic Credentials: Assoc., Electrical Engineering; B.S. Ed. - Univ. of Houston; M.Ed. - Univ. of Houston; Ed.D. - Univ. of Houston; Ph.D. - Univ. of Texas. Visiting Professor: (1) University of Alaska, (2) College of the Bahamas, (3) Arkansas State University. I am now retired, but I still advise (coach) Doctoral students on their dissertations. My wife (a medical professional and corporate executive) and I spend most of our time traveling, investing in real estate, and gourmet cooking (we DO NOT eat in restaurants, except when traveling). I spend my time divided among our small horse ranch in Arkansas, primary home in Texas, condo in North Carolina, timeshare in the Yucatan, our clinic in the UK, and with my wife who is presently on temporary assignment in Maryland.

Who I'd like to meet:

My wonderful wife, TEN years earlier than I did. Anyone else I would care to meet is already dead.

Interests

  • General

My interests are (in no particular order): Investing in Real Estate, Traveling, Gourmet Cooking, American History, Reading, Politics, Museums, Golfing, Fly Fishing, Exploring the Chesapeake Bay in our small cruiser the Elizabeth Ann - named after my lovely wife, Downhill Skiing (at my age, I don't do as much of it anymore ... LOL), Prime dry-aged American Beef, Courvoisier XO Imperial, Cuban cigars.
  • Music

Classical, Opera (light), American/Irish/Scottish folk music, Some "Golden Oldies" (from the 50's and 60's), DooWop.
  • Movies

Cold Mountain, Glory, Shenandoah, Gettysburg, Gone With the Wind, North and South, Red Badge of Courage, Pirates of the Caribbean (for fun), Passion of the Christ (Mel Gibson's greatest work ever!), Australia.
  • Television

The HBO Series: Deadwood, Carnivale, Rome, Sopranos, John Adams, 'Real Time' with Bill Maher, etc. The History, Travel, and Discovery channels. I love the CBS "SURVIVOR" series because it reinforces my opinion on what devious, self-centered, uneducated jerks many people are.
  • Books

FAVORITE BOOK? All books are my friends. Most magazines are trash and do not interest me. FAVORITE NEWSPAPER? The Washington Post. FAVORITE MEDIA NEWS? The Drudge Report.
  • Heroes

My wife Elizabeth Ann, Carl Sagan, Albert Einstein, General Robert E. Lee (and ALL of the Civil War Confederate Generals), Mark Twain, John Adams.
