Dollarman is a talented songwriter, artiste, producer and musician (he plays the drums) who hails from the Caribbean. Originally from Grenada, Dollarman grew up in Brooklyn, NY where he flex with Jamaican ‘yardies’ from an early age. Dollarman is a Reggae artiste who has the versatility to record on different genres of music adding a Caribbean influence to the project he works on. He strives to keep the vibe of the Caribbean in every lyric and tone of his songs no matter what genus of music he records on.
Dollarman, whose name denotes his lyrical richness, started in the early 90’s hanging out at Living Room Studio in NY (Shaggy’s original NY camp) run by Sydney Mills and Barry Dread. There is where he learnt more about making music and his passion for Reggae grew. He recorded his first two tracks, “Long Time Lover” and “Driver” on the ‘Rockers Forever’ label. “Driver” was a success on the NY underground reggae scene and in Japan. He performed live at clubs and bars in NY and also opened for Popular Jamaican artistes such as Derrick Barnett, Sanchez, Richie Stephens, Anthony B and Warrior King.
He is well recognized on the Underground Brooklyn Reggae music scene as a live performer with his dynamically gritty voice and innovative rhyme flow that has been capturing audiences with his vibrant stage presence and stellar performances for over 10 years.
The road to success hasn’t been easy and after years of “paying his dues” on the Reggae music scene, he has come into his own and is finally seeing the fruits of his labor paying off.
In 2003, Dollarman was featured on the ‘Money’ track of Easy Star Record’s Reggae/Dub version of Pink Floyd‘s album ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ skillfully titled ‘Dub Side of the Moon’. Due to the albums success, Dollarman had the privilege to appear on the UK tour as well as performances at Reggae on the River in California and a Midwest tour with the Easy Star All-Stars.
Most recently, Dollarman is the featured Dancehall artiste on "Rock This Party (Everybody Dance Now)" produced by Bob Sinclair and Cutee B. "Rock This Party (Everybody Dance Now)" is featured on Sinclair’s new album “Western Dreams” released on the Tommy Boy Label.
For the months of September and October of 2006, Dollarman performed in Europe promoting "Rock This Party (Everybody Dance Now)". The track went Gold in Belgium and Dollarman was awarded a Gold plaque at the 2006 MTV Europe’s The Music Factory (TMF) Awards held in Amsterdam, where he also performed.
And Dollarman hasn’t stopped the momentum. He released another song
produce by bob sinclar entitiled "LET YOURSELF FREE" which is a remake
of the 1991 hit "EVERYBODY FREE(FEEL GOOD)" by Rozalla in 2007...Both
songs went 1 on the billboard dance chart...
