NOT EXOTIC, VIOLENCE IN THE SNOWY FIELDS, YOU CAN'T WIN
Thank you for the CD which came last week. I listened to it in the car for the last 2 days. I noticed that you are experimenting with sound effects to compliment your music. I think the experiment was successful on the whole. However, the first song "You Cant Win" was vaguely reminiscent of a Hollywood movie from l957 called "Them".It was about a nuclear blast occurring in the desert which spawned giant ants that lived in the LA River storm channels and terrorized LA until the hero figured out how to eliminate them. Try to see this movie on the Late Late movie channel sometime. In my opinion the first song was out of sync with the rest of the disc. Perhaps it was intended that way. You might be aiming at a specific market of high tech fans for all I know.
As for the remainder of the CD, I was thrilled. I will listen some more today and try to remember the lyrics. Beachcomber Blues was my favorite I think. Do you think that song was a memory from the band's trip to San Simeon? I thought of Pink Floyd again and the Beach Boys on some of the harmonies but the material is still unique enough and original enough to stamp it as Delorean. In my opinion it is better than Pink Floyd because its more melodic. The sound effects were helpful on the later songs. They were not distracting but complimentary. The heart and soul of Delorean are the chord changes from tension to resolution; from dark to light; and the singers voice and lyrics create a mood of acceptance without despair or should I say disappointment without resignation.
