Yes - I think the new Hassell is his best along with Power Spot and is his most lyrical playing since the second side of the David Sylvian album Brilliant Trees.
I have a friend whose favourite musician is Don Cherry... On his first day in India, he arrived in Delhi to find that Cherry was playing that night... a truly magical evening for him. Yes - The Codona trilogy are my favourites too.. ((^_>^)
ECM is my favourite label though I have bought more than a few unlistenable albums on it...((^_>^) When it's at its best it really draws out something special in musicians though.. They seem to rise to the occasion.. and they seem to find a sense of space that is sometimes missing in their other work..
I see Don Cherry is on your player... nice. I was reading "John Coltrane - The history of a sound" recently and found it fascinating... On the Jazz side at the moment, I'm listening to the new Jon Hassell
