Sounds Like
Appalachian Beck, a dose of Cat Stevens, a touch of Greg Brown, a little Celtic balladeering -- lyrically-driven, intelligent folk rock with injections of electronica.
This site features the alt-folk-rock-etc. original music of Douglas Imbrogno with choice cover tunes, performed in solo, duo, trio and megalomaniacal incarnations (when we can find a sugar daddy). In 2005, Doug released "Saint Stephens Dream," a CD of original songs, produced and recorded with collaborator Bob Webb and performed by an assemblage of musicians christened 'garagecow ensemble." The CD has received national and international airplay.
In 2002, with four partners, he co-founded the Mountain Stage NewSong Festival, a national all-genres performing songwriter festival, contest and song school. You should come to the festival, held each August in Shepherdstown, WV, near Washington, DC-- it's a good time. (Doug hosts the 'Somewhat Spiritual Song Circle,' on the final day of the event.) He is also author of the illustrated adventure poem Snatchgrin, a two-volume work-in-progress, readable online at its most current length at www.hundredmountain.com, a work he also performs live. In March, 2005, he founded and became editor of www.thegazz.com, an online arts and entertainment magazine of The Charleston Gazette.
