In 1985 Richard Souther released his first solo electronic album "HEIRBORNE" on Meadowlark/Sparrow Records label. At the same time he also released his first solo piano recording entitled "Songs Unspoken" written under the name Douglas Trowbridge (his middle names). Douglas recorded one more record for Meadowlark entitled "Second Story" then he "mysteriously disappeared."
Richard, thanks for accepting my request and for putting up with me, lol! For many years, I've been an organist-pianist and this project really shows that side to me. I've actually played in a fairly successful Christian rock band in the early 80s called, "Philadelphia". Sponsored by Maranatha and featuring a guitarist-vocalist, Holland Davis (who is now a prominent songwriter and associate pastor), we almost got a record deal. Regretfully, the band broke up before making it, but it was a fun ride anyways. Hope all is well with you. I know that you are over at FB a lot these days. I'll have to get over there and visit you more often. Blessings, ~John
Hello "Douglas", I love the new tracks! The two "Previews" have a beautiful harmonic movement that makes me think of Impressionistic composers like, Satie and Debussy. But it retains a sense of the modern: as in Bill Evans. Of course it's all your own and not derivative. Concerning the lovely gem, "For Phillip", was it written for Phil Keaggy?
Dear Douglas, Wishing you and yours all the brightest blessings of Christmas, and a beautiful new year. Thank you for your wonderful music, and for your friendship. Love and hugs, Jane
Hello Douglas, thanks for your comment at my other site. Although I'm not an actual piano teacher at a school (I'm a private instructor teaching one student at a time), but I can probably answer your question. Don't think that they tip the piano player in schools either. In my private teaching, they don't either but they I do get nice gifts at Christmas!
Hello Douglas! Thanks for the request awhile back. Sorry for not responding earlier. I love your music. You are really talented. Thank you for finding me:-) Greetings from Norway
