Apart from the fact that I am a music addict who does Massage Therapy and write
columns for magazines, I am very driven and ambitious. The term 'Work-o-holic'
comes to mind.
Dr. Dot (a nickname given by Frank Zappa in 1988) has tended to the musical
elite for nearly two decades. She describes herself as a "rock chick" who, as a
teenager, wanted to meet her musical heroes without trading sexual favors.
Instead, Dr. Dot offered massages, which she had been perfecting since she was
five years old. Clients have included Sting, Eminem, the Rolling Stones, Sheryl
Crow, Robert Plant, Kiss, Aerosmith, Blondie, Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, Vin
Diesel, R. Kelly and Bruce Willis. She recently completed her first American
book, "Butt-Naked and Backstage: Diary of the World's Greatest Rock and Roll
Masseuse."
"It seems that everyone in the music business has a unique story of how they
broke into the industry. But no one can say they had a hand - or two - in rock &
roll history quite like Dot.

ruined most of the roll - boooo!
*Known as the "Rock & Roll masseuse, Dot Stein - more famously known as "Dr.
Dot" - has tended to the musical elite for nearly two decades. International celebrities like Bruce Willis, Lauryn Hill, Russell Crowe, Kiss, Sting, Jay-Z, Depeche Mode and the Rolling Stones can afford to be massaged by anyone in the world. But whether they are at home or in 5-star hotels, on location in foreign countries or backstage warming up for sold-out stadium concerts, who do the stars call for hands-on tender loving care? Dr. Dot.
“She eases the strain,” says punk icon Henry Rollins. “Her massage is great for drummers,” says KISS stick-man Peter Criss. Rocker Courtney Love says, “If I could, I would have her massage me all day, every day. She rocks!” Justin Timberlake wanted to “bring her hands on tour.” Sheryl Crow says, “I feel like a new woman after Dr. Dot’s massage.”
So what’s the secret of Dr. Dot’s massage?
Is it her physical strength? Bruce Willis raves about Dr. Dot’s “iron hands.” Gigantic WWF wrestler the Undertaker says he’s “shocked that such a small woman can be so strong!” But there must be thousands of powerful massage technicians out there.
Is the secret Dr. Dot’s fine-tuned bodywork expertise, gained over a lifetime of handling family members, friends – and finally, as an impassioned teenage rock & roller, using massage as her ticket backstage to concerts by the Ramones, the Rolling Stones, Mötley Crüe and the Grateful Dead?
Or is she just very well connected? To judge from Dr. Dot’s website (www.drdot.com), with its endless candid snapshots of her with every pop idol imaginable (Isn’t that Paul McCartney? Don’t tell me she knows Eminem! And there’s Eric Clapton! And Carlos Santana! And Aerosmith!), she’s hung out with a whole galaxy of superstars.
"I chose massage rather than the usual groupie route" says Dr. Dot. "I wanted to
hang out with my favorite stars; find out what they're really like. They're
never quite what you think they are."
After building a reputation as a fine masseuse, Dr. Dot began to follow one of
her favorite groups, the Grateful Dead, on tour in 1985. The band would always
give her free tickets in exchange for massages, she says. At one concert, she
met a clothing vendor from Germany who she says looked exactly like John Lennon.
"I immediately fell in love with him", she says.
Soon, Dr. Dot became pregnant. Determined to leave the rock lifestyle behind,
she moved to Germany to be with her new husband. But soon, the phone began to
ring - first the Ramones, then the Rolling Stones, both of whom had tracked her
down abroad. "It just started all over again," she says, laughing. "I couldn't
hide..Rock & Roll never forgets".(Note:Marriage lasted only 2 years. She is currently married to Rock and Roll).
Whatever her secret is, it must have taken decades to make so many famous friends. But she’s much too young! How could a girl who looks like 25 have gone to LIVE AID in 1985 and hung out with Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan and the Stones?
So is it her looks? Howard Stern exclaimed the first time she appeared on his show, “She’s not Dr. Dot, she’s Dr. Hot!" But how would physical beauty explain professional success of this magnitude, behind the very most closed of closed doors?
Is it possible that she’s just that good?
The secret of Dr. Dot’s “in” with the superstars of the entertainment world is not her medical massage, anti-cellulite massage, hot stone massage, or deep tissue massage. The Rolling Stones don’t take Dr. Dot on tour for weeks at a time because she conducts workshops and seminars on her proven techniques and methods, gives nutrition counseling, style tips, or love and relationship counseling. Not even that she or one of her 80+ trained assistants in a half-dozen countries are “available 24 hours a day at your home, hotel, office, or concert hall:
Massage, Anytime, Anywhere"

Dr. Dot’s secret weapon is, plain and simple, herself.
Born to transient hippie parents and raised in a series of broken homes and institutions, Dr. Dot has never been off the road. She knows what it’s like to go from town to town, state to state, never knowing who or what you’ll run into next. Her parents dragged her to dozens of rock shows before she was 10, and she was scheming her way backstage before she could even drive. Dr. Dot isn’t impressed by fame, but considers rock stars and entertainers as family, and rock and roll as her religion.
After living in Berlin (Germany) for a few years, Dot's kick ass massages seemed to corner the market. Massaging the out of town rockers/stars and then showing them around became her routine.
Because she speaks English, Dr. Dot soon became known for more than her
handiwork. "I've always been very good at entertaining the stars," she says. "I massage people, and make them laugh. Most of them time they didn't just want
massages - they wanted me to bring them to the bank to change their money; or to the Laundromat; or to my favorite places to eat."

"You should write a book!" Dr. Dot has written a book, it's part of Rock and Roll history. It was released in Germany in 1999 and it is more than ready to come out in the USA/UK. You can always read her blog to catch a glimpse of how she writes.
"I don't
talk negatively about people. It's my life story, and I'm mentioning how lucky I
am to have touched my heroes. But it's not a brown-nosing book, either, because
you can't write about 20 years in rock & roll and not have a bit of sex and
drugs in it."
She was 5 months Preggy in this shot ^ I adore her..
Because of the intimate nature of Dr. Dot's craft, she says stars were more than
willing to open up to her. "Not many people know that Eminem is really a softie,
or that Gene Simmons is a control freak who never got a massage in his life
before he met me"
It was Liam & Noels first ever massage

Dr. Dot lives in NYC again since 2002 but travels back and forth constantly from NYC to Europe. Since her return, she's guested on The Howard Stern Show (did NOT show ANY skin), The Opie and Anthony show and has appeared in
a VH1's show "A night with", The Fifth Wheel (yikes), and in print, in a
three-page feature in the international men's magazine FHM, Penthouse (she was
the featured interview, not a Penthouse Pet, and Maxim's BLENDER music magazine,
not to forget the three times the NY Post's page Six wrote about her.

Dr. Dot - who has been described as a cross between Dr. Ruth, Madonna,
Lucille Ball and Eminem - has also completed work on another book. Titled "For
Guys Only: Tips on the Game of Love and Sex", it offers relationship advice with
a comedic twist. "There's obviously a giant communication problem between men
and women, and there's so many boring relationship books," she says. "You've got
to have humor in it. I can't massage the whole world, but I can certainly give
everybody advice". She is presently working on her book: "Treat 'em mean,
keep 'em Keen:How to do men right" naturally, it's for the ladies.

A personal note: I am sarcastic
and live to laugh. I love to help people in every way, be it their bodies, love
lives, make up tips or making them laugh. I am kind, but sharp and can not be
lied to. In other words "Look here brother, who you jivin' with that KOZMIC
DEBRIS?" (a favorite Zappa tune of mine)..
