dropa (also Dropas, Drok-pa or Dzopa, Chinese: 杜立巴 ) is the name given to what are said by some to be a race of dwarf-like extraterrestrials that landed near the China-Tibet border approximately twelve thousand years ago.
In 2007 Micah conceived the idea of “dropa” for his first solo indietronic, electro synth pop venture. “for the past 8 years I’ve been fascinated by all the conspiracies and manipulation of history and press” says Micah. “ the Idea of using the name dropa was to have people question what they know and what they think is true”.
Previously playing in the group “Through the looking glass” Micah was exploring sounds and textures of free form , experimental, electronic, Idm. “ we were using the electronic tools we had to build layers and textures in the moment, then capture it with recordings.” Explains Micah.” With dropa I use some of the same tools and elements but with more structure and purpose. I wanted to make people think when they heard the music. The same time I wanted them to escape and dance.”
With past influences ranging from lou reed, David Bowie, Pink Floyde, New Order, The Cure, Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Hum, Four Tet, Junior Boys, M83 and hundreds of more . Micah has been utilizes a plethora of sounds, beats, melodies, pop smarts to meticulously craft the songs.
Dropa just released their debut album entitled A Well Orchestrated Plan through Softstar Records, an internet-based label specializing in shoegaze, idm and electronica. Micah explains “the title A Well Orchestrated plan is about how a few of the world elite have been conducting huge events like 911, War on terror, the economic crash, The hope of change. All to gain more power and control over the people.” “ the days of the kings have not left this planet but have kept invisible.” The Album which was recorded in Micah’s bedroom over a course of two years was finally finished In March 2009. Micah recorded, mixed, mastered the album by himself, determined to have it sound the way he envisioned it.
In March 2009 the Trtek brothers Nathan and Daren joined up for the live performance and future recordings.
