Nota Bene: I fuckin' love dubstep when it's being that chimerical beast it is (i.e., when it's not trying to be its predecessors), but, damn, why does this sound so true: (from Carl Neville's review of The Bug's Amersham Arms gig)

"It's hard not to conclude ... that dubstep is dance's hipster Metal. The place white, middle class kids go to pretend that they're 'urban'. The vibe is strained; a fervent desire to have a moment/movement rather than the fervour of being swept up in one. In this respect dubstep is the skulking, spliff smoking cousin to the NME-friendly, retouched dayglo of New Rave.
