“There's a level of honesty to Dustin Darnold's acoustic presence that hints the songwriter has crafted his music with meticulous intentions. He's not just a lonesome troubadour with a set of guitar strings in one hand and heart strings in the other. These lo-fi numbers are intentionally sparse, and every beat, each note, and all the open spaces are executed with a surgeon's precision. It's as though the 26-year-old understands that somber mustn't be melancholy, that ambiance isn't always best as mere background noise, and that true sincerity doesn't come in Hallmark card sentiments. Instead, he sounds like a student of Americana music who put years of appreciating folk forefathers into arranging his own contributions to the genre.”

aw, man. well it's ok. roads are overrated. er...something. anyway! i wanted to tell you: your asking me about music at the metro, and your writing recently about the ashbary, has made me realize - I USED TO DO THAT. and i liked it! and i miss it! and now that i'm a little older and wiser (sometimes), all i have to do is overcome being intimidated by my insanely talented boyfriend's music. i totally want to get back into it, so i'm going to start trying. alone and in secret of course, until i feel confident enough to share it with anybody. but the point is: thank you, friend!
hmmm...i think you're thinking of the ashbary coffee house in willow springs, where you had to go upstairs to the stage, and they had booths and tables...it was off 294 but i can't think of anywhere else. why do you ask? gonna play there?
How was that Bulls game out there in Grunge city? Paste magizine says that the music scene has moved to Portland. Musicians can't afford to live in Seattle any more.
