   About easy now

Two young punk kids from downtown Ryde decided one day that the current scene just didn't cut the mustard. With nothing but one $300 guitar, one $500 guitar, 5 pedals and a $2 gaming mike, they set out to bust society upside the face. But Rome wasn't burnt in a day, and even if it was, it would have taken some kind of serious propellant, like draino or something, which the ancient Romans didn't posess, despite their fondness for keeping their white togas whiter and their bright togas brighter. What the two nintendo addicted numbskulls needed was a figurative propelant.

They started searching for outlets, and after painting, writing, and hosting a reality TV show, they were stumped. How could they rattle society's cages without a paint shaker of adequate size? Then they discovered music. Apparently, it was all the rage, people listening to it, playing it, and heaven forbid, even writing the stuff. So the duo bought some cheap guitars, made a cardboard ukelele and got to it. Soon they had found their sound, which by pure coincidence sounded like many other bands whose works they had never heard at the time in question, your honour. They shopped arond for an adequate recording device to turn analog to digital when they realised that a pc mike could be used for more than just abusing pimply, nasal, north american pre-teens playing CS.

With their exclusive brand of alternative funk and space out, they bring a fresh blend to the wacky old world of faux capitalism. And it must be said, they cut quite a fine figure striding across the dunes of social revolution, Marty with his flowing golden locks and Zeppelin Tees, and Disney with his aquiline nose and one shirt wardrobe. There were never a more apt pair for the task of deconstructing the mass psyche with sledgehammer picking and falsetto groove.

Their first EP, entitled Upside the Face, is only a taster of whats to come on their first album Column A and Column B. There are even more funktastic distoro-matic riffs like in the opener, aptly called 'Little Bit of Riff'. You head will spin with thoughts a thousand times more complex than the philosophies of 'The Traveling Band of Gypsies'. You will lose your mind in blissful chorus laced strums even deeper than when you listen to 'Coriolis'.

Peploe is the effects maestro, his mastery of his many pedals and the Graphic Equalizer on media player is unparalleled. He can make a mike pop sound artistic, with chorus and delay, and everyones favourite, reverb. But lets not overlook his songwriting ability, with the likes of Cobain and Hendrix looking down on him from their tuxedo parties in heaven, who could lose?

Marty uses:

  • Regularly
  • Fender Telecaster
  • Fender Jaguar
  • Strat rip off fitted with genuine Fender Stratocaster pickups
  • Electro Harmonix Big Muff Pi
  • Digitech RP-80
  • Ebow
  • Marshall Valvestate 8080
  • Zeppelin Tees - because how else will they know your a nerd?

Disney is not so techno savvy, but lets remember what music is about, good old fashioned guitar slinging. With training in Jazz, funk and a wicked ear, he's the Simon to Peploes Garfunkel. When Peploe has completed his latest drunken rant against those who are foreign, crippled or vertically challenged, Diz is sitting on his cardboard box with a generic funk riff to give it meaning. While he may not have the most expensive gear, he's got heart, and that's a rare thing nowadays.

Disney uses:

  • Ashton GA150 Strat-Copy w/ Anti Rust Strings
  • Epiphone Dot
  • Behringer Digital Multi-fx pedal
  • Ashton 10 watt practice amp
  • Widow's tears. their pain sustains him
  • Aviator sunglasses - they look neat
