Rising from the underground of Toronto’s multicultural music melting pot, Eccodek’s visionary blend of downtempo grooves, tribal electronica and world dub is quickly capturing the attention of the international music scene, moving Global Rhythm to declare that, “ECCODEK reveals the face of global music.” Andrew McPherson – the mastermind behind the ECCODEK sound – collaborated for several years with musicians from around the world before the 2004 Canadian indie release of his much-anticipated debut recording, More Africa In Us. This deeply hypnotic, afro-dub groovefest created an immediate stir locally, with Errol Nazareth of Toronto’s eye Weekly boldly describing it as “one of the most outstanding contemporary dub albums to come out of this country!” The Boston Globe proclaimed “McPherson’s undeniable talents as a sonic architect", while Allmusic Guide simply said “Brilliant”. Canadian producer Andrew McPherson returns to the global music arena with the follow up to 2004’s widely acclaimed More Africa in Us. ECCODEK’S Voices have eyes continues to explore the crossroads where global groove, dub and electronica meet. With six featured singers on the album from countries as diverse as Mali, Turkey, Fiji, Rwanda, Nigeria and India, and a live 6 piece band presentation, this release looks to be as genre defying as the last. No stranger to collaboration, Andrew has worked with a host of Canadian and international talent. Canada’s Natalie MacMaster, Jane Siberry, Philosopher Kings, Ireland’s Andy White, Seattle’s Pigeonhed and Iceland’s gusgus have all benefited from his distinctive textural production approach. In 2006 Andrew signed a North American deal with White Swan World/Rykodisc, recently rubbed shoulders with artists Karsh Kale, Antibalas, Nitin Sawhney and Bombay Dub Orchestra when invited to contribute to National Geographic’s GeoRemix project and has just completed a remix available for download of ‘Wosoubour’ by Vieux Farka Touré, son of the late two-time Grammy winner, Ali Farka Touré. It would seem the eccodek bushfire is starting to catch. Voices have eyes features the mesmerising talent of Malian kora master Mansa Sissoko, the seductive vocals of ghazal singer Kiran Ahluwalia, the Fijian powerhouse Akuila Qumi and the tribal meltdown of Fiji’s Savusavu Choir among others. Rest assured the familiar bone rattling bass, spaced out production, hypnotising grooves and soaring exotic melodies are all here, taking on a fierce power when presented live by the six piece groove juggernaut. With Voices have eyes ECCODEK continues to expand on the global groove and dub palate shaped by such innovators as African Head Charge, Bill Laswell, Mad Professor and Kruder and Dorfmeister.Read on some of the wonderful press for the album More Africa in Us. "Hypnotic and near otherworldly offering of tribal beats and sensual grooves." – San Francisco Bay Times "McPherson's dub smarts...grooves are immense." – Now Magazine "An ethereal, atmospheric, global soundtrack." – Toronto Star "Inventive, collaborative concoctions." – InsideWorldMusic.com “These are Canadian global atmospheres, which spin with the best continental Europe and the UK have to offer.” -Worldbeatcanada.com "The studio craft is expertly rendered. This is a very good disc." –Exclaim! "Stirring." - Smother Magazine

Hi Andrew glad to hear your email is back! I sent you a message about connecting sometime for fun (chai!) and also would like to purchase a few discs from you. I still work in guelph couple days a week. Guess my previous message never made it through the cyberspace carnage you'd been experiencing! Hope you are well.
:) Actually, kind of long story, but I'll make it short: I was in Florida a week ago, and I heard this radio station (88. 5), and fell in love with the music they play on there (late at night, more ambient/industrial stuff). When I went back home, I was looking at their website to see what BANDS they play, I saw Eccodek, and looked you up. :)
I'm very glad to see you'll make it to Victoria Jazz Fest this summer!
You still have several songs playing on the Soulwindows. com playlist at CBC Radio 3. I enjoy the grooves, but in my playlist I often look to your songs for the peacefulness and balance they bring. Thanks for that. All the best to you.
Oops, I thought my last comment was just between you and me relating to your photo comment. My bad, I'm not actually a violent misogynest, I just play one on myspace?
your too kind...thanks! I like this. Sounding great. Keep it up! and keep me posted on your music. I put you on my download list for a free album. Cheers!
