Band MembersI sing and play guitar, and maybe a little keyboards if nobody’s looking.

My records are almost always produced by Rian Murphy.

When I play with a band it’s usually Nathaniel Braddock on guitar, Ryan Hembrey on bass and Jason Toth on drums. And/or whoever else I can sweet-talk into joining me for a recording or a show, including but definitely not limited to:

Amy Domingues (cello)
Azita Youssefi (piano)
Dave "Max" Crawford (horns)
Emmett Kelly (guitar)
John Hasbrouck (guitar)
Josh Abrams (bass)
Lindsay Anderson (keys, bg vox)
Mark Greenberg (keys, bass, drums)

I don’t think I’ve ever toured or recorded with the same band twice.
InfluencesBlondie, Bonnie Guitar, Cackle Sisters, the Caravelles, the Carpenters, Cat Power, Cocteau Twins, Gillian Welch, Girls of the Golden West, Janis Martin, Jessie Mae Hemphill, Jonathan & Darlene Edwards, Judee Sill, Lanterna, Leona Anderson, Lefty Frizzell, Lida Husik, Lisa Germano, Liz Phair, Lucinda Williams, Margo Guryan, Patience & Prudence, Patsy Cline, the Residents, Skeeter Davis, Sparkle Moore, Wanda Jackson, Will Oldham, Wire

   About Edith Frost
If you'd like to hear more, there's a whole album of free demos online, a discography and various MP3s and videos on my website, edithfrost.com. You can buy my studio albums on vinyl and CD at my label Drag City. CDs are also available on Amazon, and you can buy MP3s on iTunes or Amazon MP3.

If you want to write to me, read this!! All booking inquiries should go to my agent Derek Becker at Satellite Booking. All press, radio and other business-related questions should be directed to my label Drag City. I will probably not respond to above-related mail if it's misdirected to me. So! If you have something ELSE to say, by all means write to me, although I probably won't reply even then. If you could, I'd rather you used my regular e-mail -- that's my first name, which is edith, at my domain, which is edithfrost dot com. MySpace is really not a good place to write to me, but if you must... okay. Whatever. ;-)

FYI, I do all my profile maintenance on my own, I have no little helper-elves for this. And I'm kinda particular about friend requests and comments; I don't approve anything that seems at all creepy or spammy.

PRESS:

"Frost still has the unique ability to come across like JonBenet Ramsey warbling the Patsy Cline songbook. It's the juxtaposition of silly and sad."
~Jason Cherkis, Washington City Paper

"Her voice overflows with an earthy sweetness one typically encounters on dusty country records -- yet ignores distinctions between old and new, city and country, art and kitsch."
~Jay Ruttenberg, Time Out New York

"Edith Frost gives new hope for those seeking that kind of introspective, country-tinged singer-songwriter stuff but who're bored to tears with the way it sounds. Over the course of a few generally excellent Drag City albums, Frost has taken the form and given it goose..."
~John Payne, LA Weekly

"Edith Frost is the possessor of a dusky pair of pipes, and she knows a thing or two about arrangements, making songs [with] absolutely irresistible trinkets of new-wave bumpkinism."
~Joe S. Harrington, Magnet

Hi Edith Frost,

We are huge fans! Calling over time was one of my favourite records until someone broke into my car and stole it... C'est la vie! Come play Canada sometime... we don't bite!

Just been browsing through your older photos on Flickr. Your snaps of Kraftwerk live came out so much better than mine.
Also, well done with the knitting!
