Perhaps it develops at an early age, with station wagon sing-alongs and sugary cereal shared in front of saturday morning cartoons. Or, it could be something ethereal, a connection born in the cosmos and unaffected by kinship upbringing. Either way, the bond between two sisters on stage is a tangible display of a harmony. Electro Siren and Circuit Diva bring this concept forward whenever they perform. The two joined Atlanta funk collective Noot d' noot on stage to lend a little psychedelic soul to the band's cover of The Congo's tune "Congoman." Early evening rehearsals led to late-night song writing sessions, as the girls switched from practicing covers to penning their own lyrics. They named their duet "Efectiv", and by early 2007 scored a local dance floor hit with their debut single, "Jiggle City", a collaboration with Noot d' noot. The track was released as a seven-inch on Solutionist Records, and quickly sold out, flying off of both the shelves of indie record shops and the merchandise tables the girls set up at numerous live performances across the city. After just over a year of almost weekly live shows and heavy studio time, Efectiv had managed to collaborate with Atlanta avant-garde hip hop icons Muffy and Grip Plyaz, as well as Dungeon Family/Outkast legend Sleepy Brown. The final quarter of 2008 looks promising for Electro Siren and Circuit Diva, with upcoming releases and scheduled appearances in New York City, Baltimore, and of course a healthy dose of harmony for their hometown and much of the Southeast.
