Biography

Egida Aurea nasce a Genova (Italia) nell'estate 2006 dalla collaborazione tra Diego Banchero (già compositore e bassista di Malombra, il Segno del Comando, Zess e Recondita Stirpe) e Carolina Cecchinato (voce femminile di Recondita Stirpe). Si aggiungono in seguito alla formazione, Fernando Cherchi (già fisarmonicista di Recondita Stirpe), Mirko Giorgini (già chitarrista classico ed acustico di Recondita Stirpe) sempre alle chitarre e Guglielmo Amore (già percussionista di Recondita Stirpe) alle voci alle percussioni e al concept. Il gruppo, già collaudato dalla proficua collaborazione dei componenti in progetti altri quali Recondita Stirpe in primis, sviluppa una ricerca musicale piuttosto libera ed eterogenea allo scopo di sperimentare un approccio al neo folk di matrice particolare, sicuramente improntato al recupero di alcuni stilemi compostivi ed espressivi tipici della tradizione cantautorale italiana. Inoltre l’indissolubile legame tradizionale tra musica e cultura popolare porta il gruppo a trarre ispirazione dalla memoria ancestrale di molti paesi europei, specialmente di area mediterranea, che col proprio costume musicale concorrono alla formazione di una salda ma allo stesso tempo molteplice identità culturale europea, il recupero della quale si pone come importante e costante impegno alla luce di una sempre crescente crisi identitaria di dilatazione mondiale. Egida Aurea non ha fini ne implicazioni politiche di alcun tipo ponendosi come voce artistica di un passato estinto e di un presente trincerato che con le modalità di conduzione del mondo moderno ha e vuole avere ben poco a che fare. Egida Aurea esordisce con il brano "Il Giorno delle Chimiche Brume" nell'aprile del 2007 sulla compilation on line "Donec ad Metam" prodotta da www.neo-folk.it.

Biography

Egida Aurea was born in Genoa (Italy) in summer 2006, from the cooperation between Diego Banchero (bassist and composer with Malombra, Il Segno del Comando, Zess and Recondita Stirpe) and Carolina Cecchinato (female vocalist of Recondita Stirpe). Later on, Fernando Cherchi (accordionist), Mirko Girondini (acoustic and classic guitarist), and Guglielmo Amore (percussionist, and currently vocalist as well), all coming from Recondita Stirpe, joined in. Since the majority of the components were already familiar with each other in previous projects such as Recondita Stirpe, the development of the musical research is free and heterogeneous and aims to experiment neo folk sound, by recovering characteristic compositions and expressions typical of the traditional Italian songwriting. Besides, the unbreakable connection between popular music and culture inspires the band by the ancestral memory of some European countries, with specific regards to the mediterranean area; the musical folklore of such countries contributes to the formation of a solid and yet polyhedric identity in these critical worldwide times. Egida Aurea has got no political involvement and simply deals with the artistic side of an extinct past and an oppressed present, and intends to stay away from the way modern world is run. Egida Aurea debuts with the song "Il Giorno delle Chimiche Brume" (The day of Chemical Brume) in April 2007, which was included in the on line compilation "Donec ad Metam", produced by www.neo-folk.it...
