EGOamp is a new project influenced by 80s electronic music and the love for silent movies like "the cabinet of dr. caligari" and others.
the first song asmodi and cesare recorded was a cover of the classic "the cabinet", originally released by the english band "das kabinette".
the first tracks came to the attention of chris lietz, f.e. producer of german electronic pioneers "die krupps", who decided right away to produce EGOamp's first album "welcome to the cabinet".

„Welcome to the Cabinet“ vereint die Liebe zum deutschen Stummfilm der 20er Jahre mit musikalischen Einflüssen des 80er-Synthpop, EBM,
House und Trance.
EGOamp versteht sich somit nicht als Retro-Band, sondern weiß durch die fette Produktion von Chris Lietz (u.a. Producer von „Die Krupps“)
durchaus modern zu klingen.
Lose verknüpft mit kurzen Soundscapes wird eine Brücke zu den verschiedenen Themen des Longplayers geschlagen. Roter Faden des Werkes
ist der Stummfilm-Klassiker „Das Kabinett des Dr. Caligari“ von Robert Wiene, 1920. Passend dazu wurde der New Wave Underground Hit „The
Cabinet“ der britischen Band „Das Kabinette“ adaptiert, der in dieser Form sogar den Urhebern zu gefallen weiß – eine Art autorisierte
Coverversion also.
Auch andere Themen wie Einsamkeit, Vergeltung und das Thema Film im Allgemeinen kommen textlich zur Sprache, oft auch mit einem
„Augenzwinkern“ vorgetragen. Die ironische Komponente wird auch durch das stylische Auftreten der Band manifestiert. So scheinen Asmodi
Caligari und Cesare Insomnia direkt einem alten Stummfilm entsprungen zu sein. Gerüchteweise sogar einem verschollenen Werk („Das Erbe des Dr.
Lang, 1919“) des Regisseurs und Theaterintendanten Joe Castle alias Josef Schloss, der in dem Track „The Director“ gar selbst zu Wort kommt.
Eine weitere Coverversion des Albums ist „JaJaJa“ der NDW-Kultband „TRIO“. Der anarchistisch anmutende Track wurde live des öfteren erprobt
und vom Publikum so begeistert aufgenommen, daß er zu Recht auf dem Album seinen Platz gefunden hat.
„The Veil“ indessen beschreibt die klaustrophobische Atmosphäre eines Raumes mit eingehender Vereinsamung und der daraus resultierenden Flucht
in diverse Drogen, welches mit Hilfe düsterer Harmonien, treibender Beats und lyrischer Stringenz untermauert wird.
„The Carnival“, „Holstenwall“ und „The Cabinet“ nehmen thematisch direkt Bezug auf den Inhalt des Filmes „Das Kabinett des Dr. Caligari“.
Filmkenner werden hier auch einige cineastische Querverweise zu erkennen wissen. Die Tracks stehen eher in der Tradition des Soundtracks zu
„Metropolis“ von Giorgio Moroder, als zu einem klassischen Filmscore.
Es gibt also viel zu entdecken auf diesem Erstlingswerk, welches nicht davor zurückschreckt, sich viele musikalische Stile zu Eigen zu machen
und dadurch eine interessante Mischung zu kreieren, die Freunde der elektronischen Populärmusik sowie eingefleischten Cineasten gefallen
könnte.

„Welcome to the Cabinet“ is joining the love to german silent movies of the Twenties with musical influences of 80s Synthpop, EBM, House and Trance.
EGOamp doesnt consider themselves as a retroband, but know how to sound modern by the fat production of Chris Lietz (f.e. producer of „Die Krupps“).
Loosely linked, the short soundscapes build a bridge to different threads of the cd. The central theme is the silent movie classic „Das Kabinett des Dr. Caligari“ by Robert Wiene, 1920. Fittingly the New Wave underground hit „the cabinet“ by the british band „das kabinette“ has been adapted.
Even the original author of the track cherish the interpretation, so it..s an authorised cover version so to say.
Also other subjects like loneliness, revenge and movies in general have been processed lyrically, often presented with a wink of an eye. The ironic component is manifested in the stylish approach of the band. Asmodi Caligari and Cesare Insomnia seem to be slipped directly of an old silent movie. It is rumored, that they even come out of the long lost motion picture („Das Erbe des Dr. Lang“, 1919) of director and theatre manager Joe Castle alias Josef Schloss, who speaks in the track „the director“ in person.
Another cover version of the album is „JaJaJa“ by the „New German Wave“ cult band „TRIO“. The track, who appears to be anarchistic, has itself proved as a very successful live tune and so it fits perfectly on the album.
„the veil“ describes the claustrophobic atmosphere of a room with the resulting isolation and escapism in severe drugs, which is based on dark harmonies, propulsive beats and lyrically stringency.
„the carnival“, „holstenwall“ and „the cabinet“ establish a relationship to the story of the movie „Das Kabinett des Dr. Caligari“. Movie connoisseurs will find many cineastic cross reverences. The tracks shows more likely a connection to the soundtrack of „Metropolis“ by Giorgio Moroder, than to a classic filmscore.
You can explore a lot of things in this debut, which doesn..t shrink away from combining different styles of music and so creates an unique blend, which might be interesting for cineastic maniacs as well as lovers of electronic pop culture.
