The story of Egonaut began in 2005 when guitarist/vocalist Fredrik Jordanius (ex Fierce
Conviction, Rising Faith and Ablaze) decided that hed had enough with tight
leatherjeans, double bassdrums and high pitched falsettoscreams and wanted to try
playing something a bit less complex more grooveoriented for a change.
To make a long story short he immediately started harassing every friend he had that
could play an instrument to form a band and after a couple of weeks of nagging people he
managed to persuade long time friend and bassist Kristoffer Drotz (ex the very very
angry hardcoreband Heldback) and drummer Markus Johansson (ex stand-in in swedish
punkband Cosa Nostra) to write some songs. Hence Egonaut was born.
Although having the very best intentions with the band it however took them almost six
months before actually making it into the rehearsalroom the first time, but once having
gotten there it didnt take them long to find a solid sound merging contemporary hard
rock with that of the seventies and adding a bit of metal and hardcore elements.
A few months later with further exploring the sound and lots of songwriting Egonaut,
temporarily backed up by master organist G..ran ..hlfeldt, felt the time was right to
put a couple of songs on tape and after an intense week over at Old Crap Recordings
their debut demo, entitled The First One to Strike Wins, saw the light of day.
The demo was instantly successful and it was dubbed Best demo of the month in swedens
biggest rockmagazine Close Up Magazine, earning them a spot on the compilation CD
included with each number as well as an interview in the paper.
The next natural step in the bands evolution was taken when the band enlisted Richard
Olsson as their full time organist. One month after being a full band Egonaut did their
livedebut at Cafe Parkaden in Bor..s.
Inbetween rehearsing for the liveshow the band also found the time to once again enter
Old Crap Recordings, this time recording three songs that were released to the world on
the "One Down..." demo.
Having allready earned some recognition the band is now in hot pursiut for a record deal
as well as all the gigs that they can get their hands on. Consider it a warm up because
Egonaut is just getting started!
