"Overseas shows what happens when a musician puts the whole range of his imagination into play”
Greg Buium, Downbeat
"The sound has a sheer, weightless quality... whether you understand it as jazz or as a kind of instrumental post-rock it leaves more permanent traces”
Ben Ratliff, New York Times
"Opsvik's own bass has an aching sound, with his lines plumbing the depths to find almost folk-song-like melodies"
David Dupont, Allmusic.com
I’m a Norwegian musician living in New York.
While I’m probably most proficient at playing bass, I also thoroughly
enjoy experiments with recording and mixing, playing lap steel guitar,
old organs, drums, exploring instruments and sounds, composing music,
running my own little record label (loyal label)
and most anything else that combines creativity and music.
My main projects are OVERSEAS, Opsvik & Jennings and my solo project, but I'm also involved in a plethora of other bands:
The UP, Tone Collector, Sacks/Maneri/Motian/Opsvik, Ben Gerstein Collective, Kornstad/Opsvik, Tony Malaby's Paloma Recio, Kris Davis, Jackson Moore Trio, Jeff Davis Band, Rocket Engine, Plainville Music, Jesse Stacken Trio, David Binney's Out of Airplanes, Jon Irabagon's Outright!!!, Up The Turret Mil, Poor Pluto ...and more
hey eivind. all the overseas albums have been a huge inspiration to me. can't wait for overseas IV, if there are plans for it. take care, see you at the kennedy center on dec. 10. --adam.
