“...extremely ambient reverbed pieces that the History or Discovery Channel
should use for documentaries about the bottom of the ocean or the origin of the
solar system.” ~ Kenyon Hopkins, Advanced Copy-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Electric Bird Noise’s Brian Lea
McKenzie has been pushing his guitar into the depths of ambient walls of sound for
over a decade. Electric Bird Noise’s fourth album le vestibule – vestibule
transitoire is a collection of two long pieces originally recorded for Jean-Francois
Fecteau’s long running radio show Le Vestibule. While only two
tracks, the album clocks in at 52 minutes.
For those familiar with Electric Bird Noise from live shows
or previous albums, this disc presents a different side of the music.
Gone are the drum machines & occasional keyboards, replaced by
feedback & drones. McKenzie’s feedback experiments do not
result in squalls & skronks of noise, but soothing & pleasant
soundscapes. Feedback loops are processed & used to create
rhythms while accompanied by ebow & volume swells to make
music in the vein of Popol Vuh, Brian Eno, or Pink Floyd in Pompeii.
So sit back, relax, & listen to the reverb of the delay of the delay of the
reverb & settle in for the ocean of sound.
