Pop melodies. Highly addictive arrangements. Latin music trumpet players playing in a record inspired by Pink Floyd and Daniel Johnston. More Brit in the local scene under Uncle Max’s (Capote) tutelage.
Electric Kool-Aid is what happens when a band with such diverse influences of the likes of Joy Division and The Beach Boys come together with a Trio Los Panchos fan to make a record. With Max Capote’s co-Production, the band sounds as though Robert Smith took charge the Batman movie soundtrack in the 60’s. Yes, that same one with graphic fight sounds additions in screen during the action scenes, paper made backgrounds and Cesar Romero playing a Joker far from Heath Ledger’s. On a similar note, the band reaches a product quite similar to their very own musical and stylistic fetishes, and at the same time it never stops showing the truth from the lyric side of it. From the incredibly sticky “Beautiful People” to the warming intimacy on “Cosmopolitan Girl”, the songs are faithfully attached to the retro-vintage-kitsch colorful tradition that from the band’s name gets pretty obvious.
Resuming the whole shinning psychedelic sound they have, filtered by the Indie style on it with a strong Britt accent; the Kool-Aid’s keep a unique style, with powerful songs with Franz Ferdinand’s vibe and ballads that seem to be from an unknown Beatles demo. Their debut album, “This is Electric Kool-Aid” (a title that honors the marketing characters of the 60’s maybe?) it’s being Mixed and Mastered in Buenos Aires and invites not to lose a single live performance from this band, than since 2006 has been putting together quite a reputation on the local scenery.
