Electric Monk consists of four scoundrels from Helsinki, Finland. Aged between 24 and 27, they've spent their lives so far hanging around in cheap bars and shady apartments. With nothing to lose and nothing else to look for in the future, they started creating music that combines melodies from the past with the raw energy of the present.
The music they play is raw & twisted rock'n'roll that takes influences everywhere from 50s jazz to late 80s computer game soundtracks. However, the main influence of the band is still the classic rock music released during the 60s and 70s.
Their message is simple: The world is a cruel place and life can be really bitchin' sometimes, but with the help of wine, women and good music it usually becomes bearable.
History: Electric Monk was formed in early summer 2004 on the smoking ruins of recently disbanded garage rock band Needles Hate People. The band got their act together in just two months' time before their first gig in August '04. Willing & able to play any gig offered, the group soon achieved local fame as a wild live act. The band released three self-financed EP's before the official debut album "Hair Of The Dog", which hit the stores in October 2007 and received excited reviews from the Finnish music press.
Right now Electric Monk is finishing up writing new material for their second album. In March 2009 Electric Monk signed a management deal with Steady Rollin' Mgmt & Promotion.
