   About ElectroRaga
Electro Raga is a project orchestrated by Drongomala which is based on North Indian Raga forms. It's both a pre-recorded and a live-improvisation project .... meaning.....there will be CD's but the live performances are different every time.

The project also has an associated book which is a music mandala or manual for western and eastern musicians to quickly play together.

We are not purists - we are not ethnopimps - we are punks - we are open minded - we are precious about the right things - we slightly care what has went before - we love Indian and Eastern music - technology is better than a piano but not as good as a stringed instrument - we wonder if it was a great folly of the West choosing diatonic as the principal modal expressions - stuff like that ....

We are looking for online collaborations and for live collaborations. Get in touch if you are interested in being involved. That means from turntablists to bansuri flute players and everything inbetween.

We also use this page as a way of focussing the project - blogs with lists of to-do's and advice for the players....maybe you'd like to see how the whole thing develops into performances and recordings...and feel free to check in.

Vina Blue is first up with a remote collaboration on Malkauns in 16beats.

Hey thanks for having a listen :) I really appreciate that. Yeh you're right about the influences...in those particular tracks we have up they there pretty hard to pick out. I guess I've tried to do it in a way which still makes it appeal to the mainstream a bit. We have more tracks which arent on our profile which have more obvious traits of music from the Indian side of things but still try to keep a Rock and Roll vibe. I guess you could compare us to the likes of Kula Shaker that have a tinge of the Indian Classical influence within their more rocky songs. But you're right, it is about perspective...it works for some and not for others...but I like to think we offer something a touch different from the current music scene whilst not being totally alien from it...what do you think?

Ive had a good listen to your stuff and its really beautiful music. I especially liked Malkauns 4 Vina Blue...I love how it progresses and the sound is awesome. This is the kind of stuff I'd be doing if I had the resources/talent.

Take Care guys...and keep up the good work!

Sam
