Singer/guitarist John Fogg returned to his native northern Utah after spending several unfulfilling years pursuing his graphic design career in the musical black hole of Cedar City. Itching for the feel of a 12-string in his hands and a stage beneath his feet, he began inviting people over to jam his basement. After an intense winnowing of local layabouts, former bandmates and ward members, drummer Scott Gustaveson and bassist Jeff Caron each successively donated their musicianship and basements to the cause, and the band was complete. After an eons-long search for a name, the band hit the streets and local venues with their un-pigeonhole-able blend of swirling 12-string guitar textures, smooth and powerful bass lines, and seductive drumbeats- rounded out by intensely powerful and hypnotic vocals. After a year of gigging the band's demo caught the interest of indie label Eden's Watchtower Records, and were signed soon thereafter. 'Down to the Wire' Elemental's debut full-length album on EWRECS was released in August of 2008.
"Imagine, in your mind's ear, Jesus and Mary Chain-like instrumentation wedded to impressive vocals and top-notch songwriting."
-Jenny Poplar, CITY WEEKLY
